What type of glue or epoxy do you use to attach a large rubber tail to a hard bait ?

I've yet to find anything that works really well. A buddy told me that he really likes Pro's Soft Bait glue, but I haven't tried it .........maybe someone else who's used it will chime in.

Im not a baite maker but pre-drill a hole in the ass end of the lure and super glue a small finish nail in the hole and then push the grub onto the nail with more super glue works for me.

I get small dia. spring stock from my son (gunsmith) and drill and epoxy them in and screw the rubber tails on. I use my grinder to cut the spring to length. (less than an inch usually) Some folks use diffent springs that work also. The spring i use is tough stuff and holds tails on without any glue. I posted a pic in basement baits of a Burt i did if you need a pic. (Page 3)

The tail is a rectangle shape that fits into a socket on the main body so I don’t think the spring will work to good, I can pin it and glue it just don’t know what type of glue to use ? Thanks
for the help much appreciated.

I use pcs of left over from bucktails SS wire, wrap around my round nose pliers to make a curly cue. I then fit the straight end into the bait, super glue with RP 30. Once that dries, I add more RP 30 to the bait edges around the wire and screw the tail section on making sure that it ends up with the plastic seam in the center of the bait. I put that in a vertical position and allow to dry overnight.

Sounds odd but try SuperGlue with just a little bit of cigarette ash in with it.

That glue is designed to do exactly what you're asking for. I've seen it demo'd and it's some amazing stuff. It cures hard. I've used it to "heal" bulldawgs that are severely damaged and it worked well. You can get the same stuff at hobbie stores - similar label, but don't remember exactly what it's called. One bottle I have has a nail in the top of the cap that makes it great for keeping the cap opening clear between uses.

Good luck!

I tried Pro Soft Bait glue on tils to hard plastic bodies that weren't staying on with super glue and Mend It, and it works unbelievably well. Monster Lures sells it as does the company itself online.

Another vote here for Pro's Soft Bait Glue. Dries incredibly fast as well.
