| I purchased a pair of s14 rod holders at the show this weekend and mounted them on my rails. My only rod that will fit in them is a TI with a tranx. The TI with a 400d and 300e did not fit. What is a low priced trolling combo that works with these? |

| Cabelas depthmaster 15 or 20s on a whoopin stick trolling rod. I got mine for like $50 each (thats the combo on sale a few years back) |

| You don't need to put them around the reel. Just stick the fore grip in the holder. Just a thought. |

Then all the force gets put on the front of the reel and they get really scratched. |

Only if you want some new trolling gear:)
As in: "Honey it's the darndest thing- the rods fell right out of the holder...I guess I will have to get those Custom Migizi trolling rods with new Shimano Tekota Line counter reels after all. Shucks |

| i always put the forgrip in. I cant say i use my expensive casting reels with no line out alarm for trolling. |

| I'm gonna pick up some Shimano TDR's with some Okuma Magda's or Convectors and call it good. I don't troll at all, but I want to try it. |

Can't go wrong with that set up. Go with the Convectors for reels though. I do run Magda's too, and I've never had an issue with them (both Lake Michigan and musky trolling), but the Convectors have louder clickers and will last longer. TDRs are good rods for trolling as well. Luckilly you don't need to break the bank on trolling gear. |

| I have the same setup Nolan But .....I always take a hacksaw with a new blade and Enlarge the notched area on both front and rear of the rod holders. this Enlarges the area around the trigger..... just file nice and smooth and round off any sharp edges....Have been doing this for 12 years and it will hold just about any rod out there...... And it does not butcher up the triggers on your rods they stay nice and clean... Try It...Mike Sr |

I have had St Croix, Tooth Tamer and TI rods in mine I remember buying a rail mount S-14 (S-14 is the rail mount 1 3/8"), and the guy shipped me the 1 1/4" rail mount D model, so maybe double check to make sure you actually have the larger size S model even though that's what you ordered.
Come to think of it I've only had one rod that didn't fit in the larger S model, and that was a cheap Bass Pro rod with a funky kind of lowered reel seat that prevented the holder from fully closing on the rod/reel. |

| All my walleye trolling rods work just fine, its the low profile reels that hit the holder. |
