I own 4 6500 C3's and I have been doing regular maintenance on them ever since I got them. I have been able to troubleshoot everything that has gone wrong with one exception. Sometimes when I am reeling and stop, the spool continues to spin forward. I cannot figure out what would be causing this to happen. I don't understand how this occurs. If someone has had the same experience and knew how to solve the issue, could they please give me some insight on how to fix this? I would sure appreciate it.

If I understand what you are saying correctly, that is not a problem. If the line is taped to the spool or none is installed on the spool and you crank quickly and suddenly stop, the spool will continue to spil slightly causing an unbearable clicking noise. This is due to the transition cut into the pinion gear face. That is perfectly normal and is not a problem.

Hopefully that helps. All year 2000+ Garcia casting reels are designed this way.
