Subject: 1969 Lund Question about motors

We are looking to upgrade the motor on the old 69 14 foot Lund. I was wondering if anyone has info on the specs for it? We are unable to get up to the lake anytime soon to check it ourselves. Need the motor rating of how much it can handle, and also the length of the transom before we order a new motor. Any suggestions? 35 Horse to much?

Hiya,

Not sure if Lund was making the S-series yet at that point yet. The S-series was a bit wider and deeper throughout. In order for the transom to be 15" back then, the back was cut down from the side gunnels to accommodate the 15" motors. The C-series did not have this cut out, were shallower and narrower.

My father's 1970 that he used to own was an S-14 and was rated to 35 hp. Our neighbors have a C-14 and was rated only to 20 or 25...

Steve

If you have your registration card with you, you can e-mail the hull ID number directly to Lund.
They will be able to give you all of the info you need on that exact boat...hoping that their records go back that far. Robin Salo at Lund does a great job with old boats and specs.
If I had to guess, I would say 25hp for a 14ft. boat would be max. Just a guess.

On lunds website they have all their old catalogs available to download. you can look up the specs on your model there. Its interesting to look back at what was state of the art when we were younger. Bill

Good point Bill. I love looking at the cheesy cover photos from the Good Old Days.

Click on this link below for the 1969 specs.

Check out that cool sombrero that dude has on with the C-12 Big Cartopper model...now that's hot.

Thanks Bill.
