I just got one for Christmas so I'll be poking around the lake next year. I can't wait!

I know muskyone has used his quite a bit. I'm sure he'll post and give some pointers on the how-to and what he's found.

Can one build his own for cheaper than $300 bucks?

Basspro has them for $220. Tough to make one much cheaper with the monitor. I think the homemade one my friend made cost him around $100 for the camera and it was close to another $100 to get a monitor. For the $220 it's easier just to buy on with a warrenty, but that's just me.

I have used mine for two years now, I have seen tons of walleyes, bass, perch and others but only one Ski. Have checked out a lot of neat structure with it though. Structure I have fished for many years, I tell you this, some of it really opened my eyes. Not at all what I thought was down there. I'm sure you will enjoy the new toy. Will try it ice fishing this winter.Good luck![]

I have had one from near the beginning when they were first sold. I have seen structure and things that you really have to see to know what they are. I have seen lots of fish including many Ski's. Also lots of baitfish, Perch, Bluegill, Walleye etc. Also lots of Crawfish on the rocks. The one thing that will stand out for you is the structure that you are fishing around. One other thing that will be very obvious is that there is a lot and I mean a lot of water that has nothing in it. I mean no weeds, no wood, no rocks and most of all no fish. Lot's more nothin' out there than I ever would have expected. If you get a camera you will spend many hours just looking so plan your time accordingly. Great fun[]

I need to get one. My luck a musky would grab the camera and I would be left with the cable...[:(]

I built my own last year, and it cost me just a hair over $100. I have used the Aquaview, and I would say that the one I built works just as well.

You can buy the cameras for $79 from Intellicam and most of the people are getting there tvs for 25 to $30. Batteries for another 20 to 25. You'll also need a storage case.

A guy at work built his own and says it works great for ice fishing--says he'll take me along and show me soon.

Good luck

I bought the camera on Ebay for $62.00 (before they got more popular), the TV was $19.99 at K-mart, the battery was $12.00 on Ebay, and the case was $8.99 at Walmart.

Hodag gave a great link to some ideas.

Eric - shoot me an e-mail at home.
