So are topwaters better on dark water? My favorite lake says no but have done well on others.

Topwater fishing is really funny at times.

I know lakes that you cant get a muskie to even look at a topwater bait, clear and dark waters. Then there are lakes they simply rock on and topwater is a great choice even in November.

Trial and Error and time on the water has taught me that some lakes are just not topwater lakes and you should not devote as much time to it. Never give up its always a lot of fun catching that first fish on a certain lake on topwater.

Try differnt topwaters, sometimes its just a "Wiggle", "Wobble" and "Wake" they want. Sometimes just a squeek...sometimes a fast pop or a slow pop......lots of variables to try.[;)] [:p]

The dark water I fish here in central WI has a great topwater bite, Top Raiders being my first choice of lure overall followed closely by Pacemakers. Black and orange seem to be the top producers for me.

On the dark waters of The Big V a topwater bait is the first choice
of many anglers. During the warm water periods, topwaters like the topraider, tallywacker, jackpot and thunderheads, all produce in all kinds of weather, at all times
of the day. [:p]
