Posts: 122 | The Professional Muskie Angler Circuit™ (Pro-MAC™) will be kicking off the 2013 season on the Madison Chain of Lakes on May 11th & 12th with the first of six qualifying event in the circuit. The tournament will pay down ten places with the first place prize equaling $20,000.00 with a full field of participants. The cost to compete in the muskie tournament is $330 per team. All of the competing teams will be vying to finish in first place, but for most, there is an even bigger goal of catching muskies to earn enough points to qualify for muskie fishing’s most prestigious tournament, the WMT Series™ Invitational Championship™. For three years straight the WMT Series™ has set new records with the highest cash pay-out for a muskie tournament championship, with last year’s winner’s Matt Holland and Steve Genson earning $50,000.00 for first place with a purse of over $70,000.00. This year, the successful Madison competitors could be earning a chance to take home the offered $80,000.00 first place money with a purse of $140,000.00. This will be the first time since 2003 that the WMT Series™ has hosted a Major two day tournament on the Madison Chain...granting the request made by numerous muskie anglers that know just how good the fishing can be on the chain. Lake Monona, Upper Mud Lake and the Yahara River that connects the two lakes, and Lake Waubesa will be open to fish for the Pro-MAC™ Madison event. Two spots are designated as ease-out location, Olin Park on Monona and Christy’s Landing on Waubesa with Christy’s Landing designated as the headquarters for the Friday night registration and meeting and the Sunday awards. To build on successes of the 2012 season, the WMT Series™ Championship™ will pay down ten places rather than five with a purse of $140,000.00 (with full fields of scheduled tournaments) equaling a pay-out percentage at the championship of 359% pay-back. Also, an increase Lapp Trophy™ (team of the year) prize money award to $20,000.00 (with full fields) in 2013 to the team with the highest points total in the WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ Rankings™ at the conclusion of the last regular season’s qualifying event. This will all be done while keeping the Pro-MAC™ and MCTC™ Championships (champions determined by virtue of the highest point totals in each tournament circuits) bonus awards at $5,000.00 for each tournament champions (with full fields of scheduled events). The Pro-MAC™ qualifiers, Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ qualifiers, and the WMT Series™ Invitational Championship™ remain the best pay-outs in muskie tournament fishing…bar none. These tournaments were built by tournament anglers, for tournament anglers, with one singular concept in mind, to keep the entry fees as low as possible while paying back as much we can in our attempt to repay muskie tournament anglers for all of their efforts in preserving the muskie fishery for others and for future generations. It’s this concept, along with adopting the best procedural methods allowed by the DNR, and the great men, women, and young anglers that have made us the largest and most popular muskie tournament for a decade. The Pro-MAC™ U.S. Muskie Open™ on the Madison Chain of Lakes still has open spots and there is still time to send in your entries to get an earlier starting position. We will also be accepting entries the Friday before the tournament at Christy’s Landing (on the west shores of Lake Waubesa) from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The tournament hours will be from 6:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday and 6:00am to noon on Sunday. All WMT Series™ events are open to the public and we hope you will join in on the fun and excitement. We have recently distributed thousands of brochures but if you haven’t received yours yet, please call us at 714-277-4411 or email us at [email protected] and we will send one out ASAP. Posts: 325 Location: Otsego, MN | I find only 2 fish caught tough to believe... Perhaps this cold front really shut them down... Gotta back off that sand boys and start looking deep or on the dropoffs...

Posts: 272 Location: Oregon, WI | 4 fish total, 38 was biggest. Cold front, 50 degree w/t, lack of weeds and high winds - tough sleding. We managed a 33 1/2" leech lake strain shorty. Healthy fish and not a mark on it.

Posts: 1220 | Congrats to "Robby" for taking this one, this was likely to be one of the toughest weekends to fish I have seen in quite a while, big wind, cold, rain, totally shut-down fishery. But, like in every single case, somebody figures out something, and Rob continued to build on his good start at Cave two weeks ago. I bet him three six-packs the tourney would be won on Waubesa based on my pre-fishing last Wednesday (in nice weather) and now I have to shop. Hope he likes Busch Light!!

Posts: 633 Location: Madison, WI | fishing was def tough as water temps dropped 15 degrees in 3-4 days! Sunday morning temps were 48! Plus 30mph winds made almost all of Monona un-fishable on Saturday! did manage to scratch out a 34" leecher on Sunday to get on the board but it was extremely tough fishing. Hope Pewaukee is nicer weather this weekend!!
