Posts: 26 | What?! 4 fish is all that was caught in a tournament with all the boats out there?! I thought on spring lake all you had to do was through rat-l-traps and you'd catch a bunch. I thought it was like "fishing for bluegill in a kiddie pool". No?

Actually, it is and yes it could be a crap shoot. 4 fish caught in a day with most of the boats fishing the south end of the lake in pretty much one area is not that bad. remember, they have to be over 30 inches to count too. Not sure how many boats but I would assume 10-20. i hear bob taylor and thad hinshaw fished as partners in this one so they probably won. Edited by bshep 3/17/2013 5:33 PM

Posts: 26 | Ahhhh good to hear. I am more of a numbers guy than size. Id be perfectly happy catching 20-some inchers. So if smaller ones were caught and they left some for me, thats good.

Posts: 171 | by fishing for bluegill in a kiddie pool do you mean its like fishing a farm pond for muskies? thats sort of how it is. the tournament is up for grabs for pretty much anyone - but you still have to earn it and fish well. just like anywhere the fish in that lake do get on specific bait "patterns" and you can sometimes predict when the best time period of the day will be best. a lot of other things id rather not do on a weekend than fish an imtt tournament. they are fun, great for someone who wants a challenge or a fun event to participate in, and everyone who fishes it is really nice. they spend a lot of time muskie fishing and on some good waters too. these aren't your average joes. they can cast and reel in fish with the best of them. especially Bob Kerans :) Edited by bshep 3/19/2013 10:11 PM

Location: Lake Saint Louis, MO | 34 contestants came to Spring Lake North near Manito, Illinois for the annual IMTT event at Illinois’ brood stock lake for muskies. Facing heavy cloud cover with temperatures from 31 to 42 degrees and W to NW winds gusting to 20 mph on Saturday, four teams managed to hook up and boat a mere four muskies. Post cold front conditions and continued clouds on Sunday allowed only one team to have success as contestants braved temperatures topping out at a chilling 34 degrees and facing a steadily driving 20-25 mph north wind. Taking home $800 the First Place Team of Randy Hilger and Mike Jacob boated one muskie on Saturday (33") and two muskies on Sunday (35" & 36.5"…the Big Fish of the tournament) Second Place honors and $400 went to IMTT newcomers Brandon and Ryan Schorle of Bartlett, IL. The brothers boated their 35.25? muskie on Saturday morning. Also new to the IMTT, the father and son team of Tommy and Shaun Kersting of Geveva, IL boated a 32? muskie on Saturday to take home $240 and a Third Place finish. Mike Bolt of LaGrange Park, IL and teammate Anthony Fazio of Downers Grove, IL rounded out the leader board with a 30? muskie caught just after moonrise Saturday. The Fourth Place team earned $160 for their first IMTT tournament. A great time was had by all who attended the raffle and dinner held at McCritter’s Bar and Grill in Pekin. 310 non perishable food items were donated by tournament entrants and guests to support the local food pantry.
