Posts: 81 | It's time for me to replace my starting battery and I am looking for suggestions. Performance is much more important to me than cost. Which one is the best right now? I use it for starting my 200hp Optimax and my depth finders, radio, etc.

Posts: 265 Location: Hudson,WI | I use the Cabela's AGM batteries. I would say a group 27 would be sufficient, but bigger is always better. So if you can fit the 30's go for it. I have a Yamaha F150, and I run 24's and I've never had any problems. They are very good for the cold start, and they're a dual purpose battery. So you can use them for either a starting or a deep cycle.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Duracell AGM 31 from Sams Club...$166 and made my East Penn. Got 3 for my trolling motor and one for cranking. Used these batteries last year and LOVED them. Tons of power and priced right vs other name brand AGM batteries made by the same company, same specs or even better but with a different label.

Posts: 81 | Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to stick with AGM. As Average Joe said, the Duracell batteries are not available up here in MN. Has anyone tried the Odyssey batteries? How about the Optima Blue? Joe

Posts: 774 Location: South East Wisconsin | Optima Blue Tops are not what they used to be from what I heard. Friends and Batteries Plus said they are manufactured in Mexico now. I have done a little research on Odyssey; I know Keyes is using these. Seem like the real deal pretty pricy though. I run Interstate I haven’t had any problems with them.

Posts: 2284 Location: SE, WI. | I love my interstate batteries. I use the marine 1000 cranking amp starting battery. It last 5-6 years for me, but you must maintain the fluid levels.
