Posts: 7 | i had currently returned my st croix long ranger due to the fact that it was not an all around rod. i now have a choice. i have heard the LT sling blade is an awesome all around rod, but the TI rods are as well. i am mainly looking so a rod to throw double 10's or 8's (even burning them), shallow invadors, mag dawgs, topraiders and maybe some smaller crankbaits like the bucher 7" shallow raiders. is the sling blade really stiff? ( i dont like SUPER stiff rods, some nice tip action is great) which one would you reccommend the legend tournament sling blade or a tackle industires rod? for the TI would a MH or XH be necessary? by the way price does not matter for me. thanks for everything!

Maybe someone else with more experience using these rods can chime in, I have the LT "The Jerk" split grip, the LT "Long Ranger" split grip and an XXH TI split grip - all of which I like and use for different purposes, not as an "all around" rod.

Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | I like the LTM big nasty for what you're talking about. Haven't used the sling blade though. Haven't used the TI rods yet either

Posts: 339 Location: Denmark | A rod with a perfect action for 10's or 8's , shallow invadors, mag dawgs, topraiders, are the Bulldawg series 10oz rods. They have plenty backbone for catapulting Magnums with force. but still does't feel stiff when handling a doubble 8'. Comes as both 1 or 2pc, and in lengths from 7, 7.6, 8, 8.6, and 9 feet. The handle are shaped much like, the St Criox premier series, and fits in a standard Down East.

Posts: 92 | Another option is to check out my page www.customxlures.com. Check out the rods section. I offer some high end rods at affordable prices direct to the end user. I only sell on my website and at the Musky shows. Thanks for looking. Chuck DiVito Custom X Lures and Rods 630-991-7012

Posts: 179 Location: Wisconsin | I would go with TI rod. The rod is made of a different graphite and is lighter and a strong back bone. The 9" MH would work or the XH if you want a little stiffer tip.

What reel are you using? I'd go with the Big Nasty or TI XH; the TI has a longer rod handle; both are good for launching those baits and are great all purpose for those lures. If your reel has more than 30" line per crank, you'd probably be fighting the lighter tip of the Sling Blade, and you would on the Fig 8's for DC10's+

As for the Sling Blade... that rod is exactly what you're looking for when it comes to that range of baits. The Big Nasty is also a great choice, but it's a little stiffer in the tip.
