I am looking to know what kind of line you guys are using out there... I have used Power Pro, Spiderwire and Tuff Line over the years and was curious what you use and why? Positives, negatives, etc....

A little background, I am curious as to the casting aspect, I understand trolling can be a whole different game using wire and different lines to get deeper or more action out of your baits... I am not looking to use mono so please comment on the braids...

Only a few more weeks and I will be respooling all my reels!!!

I like spider wire ultracast , the braid not fluorobraid, it seems to hold up the best for me. Also it rarely backlashes and when it does I can pull it right out. I've been using 80# the last few seasons.. It casts just as good as the 50 and holds up much better I can usually bend the hooks out and get my snagged baits back. I tried power pro, fireline, strens superbraid, and stealth. Stealth wasn't bad but I like ultracast better for the backlash factor.

Everybody is going to have their own preferences. You will enjoy your line from a reputable company.

All three you mentioned i currently have on reels. More reeels have PowerPro than others though. Lasts well although their 65 lb test is banded from my boats unless we are bass fishing!

If it is not sufix performance braid or cortland masterbraid or spectron you are wasting your time and money.

I use sufix perf braid (NOT 832), Powerpro and vicious with good success. I buy whichever i find cheaper of these 3. Sprectron is good but usually can't find a reseller in my area.

I've been using Cortland Masterbraid for several years and like it a lot. I also tried the Suffix 832 last year and liked that as well. Both of those suit me. Both are fairly dry lines, with the 832 being more "dry" than the Cortland if I remember correctly. The 832 feels a little harder and can be a little hot on the thumb if you make a hard 1st cast of the day while the Cortland feels a little softer on the thumb.

I tend to stay away from PP as when I get a backlash, I need a pick to get it out. I use Cortland or Cabela's Ripcord Si now. I get a backlash with that stuff, I normally just need to yank on the line and it pops free.

I bought a big spool of the Ripcord so that will last me a while, so I haven't tried any of the newer ones on the market.

I have been using Hi-Seas Grandslam braid the last few seasons and love it.
It does'nt bleed, wicks away water, doesnt fade, easy to get out back lashes and is strong as hell

I try most everything just so I can talk with some amount of familiarity when customers ask me about characteristics of different lines. I end up going back to Cortland Masterbraid time after time. Suffix Performance braid is nice too and the only one I've left on a reel after testing. I have no affiliation with any particular line company so if I really liked something better it would be on my reels.

I've yet to use anything I like as much as Sufix Performance Braid. Spooled some 832 last year and was pretty neutral to the product. I didn't notice a significant lack of water pick up, as it was advertised to do. It seemed to fray a little faster than Performance Braid, but I still thought it ranked second among the lines I've tried.

Has anyone tried Seaguar's new Kanzen braid? I've yet to see or touch it, but I love Seaguar's other products.

Been very happy with Cortland Masterbraid in bronzeback,Previously was using Power Pro but was experiencing line fraying on all my setups.

80 pound Cortland Master Braid "Bronze Back"

I hate prower pro, had nothing but problems with it and it leave a nasty residue that gets in every nook and cranny in your reel.

I have no problems with 65 pound power pro on all but one of my Muskie reels. I have 80 Suffix on my pounder reel and really like that stuff too.
