Posts: 1283 | Just got back from the Family vacation from Vilas Co Wisconsin. Had a great time and although we didnt get to fish as much as we would have liked do to family plans we did get some good time in. 99.9% was muskie fishing, one full day with a great guide JVR to learn some new waters and everything he had to offer. We had some action but the fish just wouldnt commit, it was still money well spent and learned a lot. Looking forward to the next outing Jeff! The day after we were at our home lake and hit the water after dinner, we set out to find my nephews on the lake and fish with them a bit. We found them in a good back bay that has some decent panfish, bass and pike fishing but it was starting to get dark and they had no lights and had to go back to the cabin. Since we were not looking for anything but muskies I told my brother to pack it up and we were headed to a more productive spot. We get there just after nightfall, start casting and within 20min my brother yells I got one, I got one!!!!!!! I drop my rod, fly across the boat and within seconds have the net ready to go. I take a look at his pole and its doubled over pretty good so I knew it was a nice fish. The fish makes a couple good runs, then makes a last ditch effort to run under the boat but my bro horses it up and I scoop him in the net! Hell ya!!!!!!!!! I finally got my brother his very first muskie and its a nice 47" fish. I have never seen him so happy and I have never been so proud!!!! Made everything you go through to catch these things worth it and he deserved it. Other than that fish we saw one other muskie on our lake, and one follow one a different lake. We did catch some panfish, perch and a couple small LMB in the very short time fishing for them but nothing pic worthy so we didnt bother. All in all this was a great trip, and I will remember it forever, as I know my brother will! Attachments ---------------- 47musky2.jpg (35KB - 273 downloads) 47Musky.jpg (26KB - 289 downloads)

Posts: 1283 | You know whats even better James? He caught it on a TI DBL 8 dominatrix I bought him for Christmas! Oh and I picked up two TI rods at R&M while I was there. You need to restock those guys. Edited by achotrod 8/12/2014 1:32 PM

Posts: 334 Location: Madison, WI | Awesome story, very similar to my first musky up north. I hired a guide and struck out for two days in a row. The third day up there my buddy and I got my first musky within an hour on the water on a totally new lake without a guide. Great job!

Posts: 1283 | Thank you, For some reason he never had much luck on the water, although he he has spent hundreds of hours out there. Seriously near 30yrs it took to catch this.
