Posts: 46 | After going to both the Chicago and Milwaukee expo's, I am now thinking about going to the Minnesota show April 5-6-7. I currently live in Chicago and understand that it is quite far from home. What I am wondering about is why or why not you would travel this far for a show. If you have any information about the retailers/speakers who may be here that would be nice. The MN website did not seem to have alot of this information like the other two mentioned. If any retailers are/are not going feel free to tell us about your products and what specials you may be running at the MN show. If you have any ideas about the best places to visit and eat (on the way or in St Paul) please feel free to share your "secret spots"

Posts: 150 Location: Central Minnesota | The mn show is awesome but I don't really have anything to compare it too being its the only show I attend. It has a lot of retailers. Thorne Bros and reeds both have big displays up. As far as speakers they have a great lineup. Hamernick, hulbert, and dahlberg just to name a few. The rest are posted on the website. If you enjoy beer and burgers you must go to the blue door pub on Selby Ave. It's a small place so there may be a wait but it is well worth it. 2$ taps for happy hour. Good luck with your decision. If you make the trip you won't regret it. Edited by joemsanderson 3/9/2013 3:45 AM

Posts: 93 | Ive been to the Minnesota,Wasau,Milwaukee and Chicago shows this is my personal ranking 1) Milwaukee- I really like the bait tank that they have there, seminar speakers or vendors can throw their baits in there and you can see the action at eye level without having to look through the glare of a pool. Also I like the fact that the swap is at the hotel where most people are staying so you can have a few beers and not have to worry about driving. Only show that we had to pay to park. Beer is served at show! 2) Minnesota- Its the closest to my home, Reeds is there so it makes the other major retailers have to give discounts to compete in sales. Show needs to be earlier in the year. And needs a new location. No beer sales 3) Wasau- Free parking, Show,Hotels and swap are all in easy walking distance of another. Alcohol is served but even better there was a beer cart going through the aisles selling beer! No major vendors there( Reeds,Musky Shop,Thornes) so there were no major discounts of any kind. But did see some vendors that I normally don't see which was nice 4) Chicago- Huge plus is that its the first Musky show of the season and most of the major retailers and vendors are there. No beer sales. Furthest from my house,Didn't like that the show, swap and the hotels were all a distance from each other where we had to drive.I haven't been there in two years but I keep hearing that the show is losing interest? My take on the shows that I've been too

Posts: 32922 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | All the shows are worth attending. Chicago is the first and offers the first real break from 'winternet', Milwaukee is now probably the biggest, and the Wisconsin Muskie Expo is centrally located, features aspeakers different from other shows, and is growing fast. The Minnesota expo is Metro located, offers some of the Muskie regional flavor the others may not, and is a good time to attend. We attend them all, and recommed attending any you can get to.

Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | I've now been to both the MN and wausau shows. Wassau was fun and the kids had a great time and I will be going back next year. The MN show is much larger and I have gotten some great deals there. They have an awesome line up of speakers and a tackle making booth for kids. Been going to it for several years and it's where I get my rods! Haven't made it to mill or chi but will be hitting waussau and MN every year now. Fun to check out new toys and learn something from the seminars or vendors and other people you meet.

Posts: 91 Location: Central Wisconsin | Have been to all but the Chicago show. From central Wisconsin so like that the Wisconsin Expo in Wausau is close by. If the Wisconsin Expo can get Musky Mayhem and and Musky Innovations there with thier custom show colors and to make custom colors like at the other shows then I see no reason why the Wisconsin Expo would be anything different besides a bait tank. Joe's was at the Wisconsin Expo the year before and offered some really good deals keeping everyone competitive for prices which was nice. Look forward to seeing how much bigger the Wausau show gets next year. Other than just to make a trip to cure the winter blues or books a guide trip in person with someone from that area, if the Wausau show is closer I don't think you're gaining much by making the drive if you're looking to save some gas money. I currently live in Chicago and understand that it is quite far from home. What I am wondering about is why or why not you would travel this far for a show. In answer to your question above...Since you have already been to two shows this season, I would not travel that far for the Minnesota show. I have been to Chicago, Milwaukee and Minnesota and have not experienced enough of a difference to justify the drive-especially in April. I would take the time and fish IL waters...April is a great time to target fish around home. Instead of looking at lures and listening to people talk about muskies you could be catching one! Posts: 186 Location: Waconia, MN | I have only been to the MN show but really look forward to it each year. Maybe they do this at every show but if you go the last day you get great deals. I think this is maybe better than most shows considering this is the last show of the year as well. 1 last push to make another buck. Like I said though, this could be the case at all of the shows. Great Pubs in the St. Paul area!
