Location: Madison, WI		Hey Fellas,

Snow day here in WI as we are getting pounded so I finally got some shop time. Here is a short little video on a rattle chamber I made (my first) using a tutorial from another site with some fun and effective modifications.

My process was very similar to the tutorial, I took one of my Musky Spook blanks and drilled a shallow 5/8" hole with forstner bit on both sides of the plug. I then drilled a 1/2" channel through plug. Next, I drank a Pabst :buds: and then cut two 5/8" discs from the can to seal the ends. I also lined the 1/2" channel with Pabst aluminum as well. I used epoxy to seal the end disc and then when dry added a 5/16' steel bearing. I then epoxied the other end cap and filled in hole with plumbers putty. I sanded the putty when dry and I was pleasantly surprised with how loud the rattle is. The plumbers putty definitely added to the decibels.

Very nice, thanks for sharing.  I’ve done something similar before but I used a spent 7mm mag case for the tube, put it in sideways, and then capped with sheet metal like you did. 

I’ve heard that the Hamm’s cans have more of a premium sound though…

Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan!		wish someone would get a big SS/ brass rattle chamber out on the market.Good diameter with about an inch long chamber. I would be a buyer.

That's a big one...how'd you make it?
I make sure I knead my plumbers putty very well and if it is sufficiently mixed it will harden in about 30 minutes and be ready for sanding.

Location: Okoboji		The side disks are big but the chamber is 1/2" with a steel bearing. I thought bigger area of steel the more thump lol

Location: Okoboji		i was going for a lower frequency thump than a higher pitched rattle...i figured a bigger area to dissipate sound and vibration would be better to attract a big fish but what do i know, its just a theory lol... kinda like a bass drum vs a snare drum.
