Looking at buying a small boat to use on the WI river and i have found one that looks good however it has a gamefisher 15 on it and I've never heard of them. The motor is a 84 i believe. Who makes this motor? Are they junk? Should i stay away?

I think that would have been a Chrysler Marine engine. If it runs now, it will probably run forever.

The Gamefisher was sold by Sears durning the 80's & early 90's & it was manufactured by Tanaka of Japan. Mercury & Johnson also sold models under the "Gamefisher" brand.

My dad has a 7.5 HP Sears Gamefisher that he uses on his 13' row boat. I used it a lot back in the early 90's & the motor is still running strong today. The motor is loud IMO & sounds like a lawnmower.
