| I have been make fishing lures for about 2 1/2 years and enjoy every part of it. From cutting out the blank to catching a fish on it. I only wish I had started this hobby about 15 years ago!! | |||

Posts: 337 Location: Central WI | I started making lures last year...nice hobby to have through the winter months. It's been fun(and frustrating) figuring everything out..and I'm still learning. Didn't get a chance to catch any fish on them last summer, but looking forward to trying my small arsenal of baits in May!

Posts: 615 Location: Madison, WI | Since 2009, I love it, and miss it this year as my building time has been limited. I would say I fish with my customs approx. 80% of the time as I make my own Bucktails as well. Nothing like catching on one of your own.......2 of my top 3 fish have been on my own lures MS

Posts: 1202 Location: Money, PA | I started out working for a reputable baitmaker here in Ellwood City years ago. Got a full time teaching position back in the early 90's and was forced to quit that part time job. Been making my own baits here and there for years....made some jerkbaits, cranks and modified cranks all for myself. The idea for my lure design lingered within my mind and through drawings since early 2000 something...I finally made The Hammer come alive about 3 years ago. I truely love the design, building and especially the painting of lures. Seeing the end product is very gratifying to me with each and every bait! I have said this before and some may think its wierd, but I remember something about each bait I produce. Almost develop an attachment to each one, hard to explain the feeling, but I'm sure some of you can certainly relate. Edited by ShutUpNFish 2/28/2013 7:47 AM

| I’ve been tinkering/modifying baits for around 20 years. About 13ish years ago I was asked to be a partner in ERC and my bait building passion has waxed and waned since then. I’m on a high now because I love how efficiently the hand mixed “resin” type material systems allow me to develop and make baits. I don’t remember when I first had the thought, but I one day wanted to have a tackle box full of baits that I made and I’m now there. I make my own bucktails, spinner baits, gliders, dive and rise, deep divers, twitchers, jointed cranks, and now I have a topwater body that I can configure in many ways. The only thing I haven’t done is rubber. I’m not quite sure if I want to do that yet, I may possibly make some of my baits into a hard/soft hybrid bait. What I like most about making baits is the creative outlet and working with my hands – oh, and then there’s that fishing thing… | |||

Posts: 260 Location: Almost Heaven | I started "messing" around with bass baits a few years ago and then to muskie baits. I like to paint and experiment and improve baits. I want my wife to see that this muskie thing is not all play but truly a job!!! Keep up making those truly unique and beautiful lures guys. We love to see them.

Posts: 321 Location: Glen Ellyn Il | For me about 1.5 years, My problem for me is that I keep on making different baits, I love to build more than painting. I made at least a dozen different shapes. My favored baits are glide baits and I am going to get back to them. This is an addicting hobby , I love it Gino
