I have kept a detailed list of all the muskies I have caught, length, lake, lure, general weather among other things and the last couple years whether or not the fish was caught during solunar time. I use the excell spreadsheet program.
Anybody else keep a muskie log?

Born - Muskies Inc has the Lunge Log where all members can enter catches into a collective muskie log. If you are a member of Muskies Inc, you should check it out. You can also mine the existing data going back years and years. I have certainly entertained myself by doing some analysis from time to time.

I used to found that variables change so much from year to year that I stopped.

No matter what your data says, that moment in time that you caught a certain fish can never ever be duplicated.

I used to enter fish in the lunge log, I quit doing it because it's hard enough to keep up with my personal log. I do like looking at all of the info on the lunge log.I keep a note pad and pencil in the boat to write it when I'm taking a break.

I had a couple years where I wasn't catching the #'s of fish I used too, turns out I had gotten away from using the proven lures that worked for me.

I record all my days on the water, whether I caught fish or not. did I see any, how many, times, periods, whether, location, structure type, moon phase, any and all info gets put into a book to help me for the next trip. If I am on the water, it gets recorded. Not just fish, but EVERYTHING

musky fishing is a time, place and what the fish tell me to do. responding to the conditions of the day and figuring out the puzzle is the fun part to me and i go to experience and feel vs. a log-book.

baits are tools ... i'd hate to get so focused on the past that i can't see what's happening at the moment.

I actually keep two logs. One is a book where I can write down all of the data I choose to, along with the experience and things that could have gone better or how insane the action was. Then I enter all of this data into a ACCESS file and use that software to store and search for patterns.

c'monnn Sled...you can't tell me that when you go to Eagle year after year that if you caught a 50 on a wind blown rocky point with a certain set of conditions you wouldn't think about that the following years trip w the same conditions? really? sorry but listen to Herbie... all those years on Eagle do you think he only goes by what is happening that day and doesn't think about all the days, months, and years prior? if you don't consider past conditions/trips/successes/failures you are missing out on a lot of fish.....

I keep a log of info for each time I catch fish. Used to keep a log of every time out but after the first few years there were way to many pages of info on non catch days lol.
