I was just wondering if anyone has been fishing the Boulder Junction area lately and how good you were doing. What lakes have been the best and what lakes should we stay away from because of boat traffic. Also, what lures have been producing the most fish.

Thanks,

I was up in Boulder this past weekend. The action on Friday (10/5) was pretty good on Bulldawgs. I had action from quite a few fish including this 45" dandy. After a couple of pictures, she was released to fight another day. We had 12 people in our group. We caught a couple of other smaller fish. The best areas were points and mid lake structures that had good weed growth. The fish were in the 10 to 15 range following schools of baitfish. Water temps were anywhere from 50 to 54 degrees. We woke up to 2 inches of snow on Saturday and 24 degrees. We couldn't believe it! I figure the fishing was good on Friday just as the front was coming in. Saturday was extremely slow. Some followers and one nipper but that was it.

The lakes we hit were Big St. Germaine, Palmer, Tenderfoot and Wildcat. Since most of the guys in our group fish for muskies only once per year, we were looking for some action. One of the guys in my boat had never been musky fishing before. I showed him the proper handling techniques and let him release the 45". He couldn't believe what a fish like that felt like. Well worth the hours in the cold!
