Posts: 142 | In my boredom, I decided to construct one of those fancy see through lure boxes... I'll keep this short and sweet. At first when making the case, I tried an epoxy. Dumb. Needless to say I ended up using clip angles with 3/8 stainless steel hardware. I will probably go back and solvent weld a case together like I did for the insert (which came out nice. It would have been nice if somewhere local to me carried some of this stuff and I didn't have to order it over the internet.. The inserts came out very nice. It brought some life to the kitchen table as well. finished product (for now). I can see there being issues with my case. The hinges are going to eventually break on the lid, I think. The hasps add a nice secure feature. I used 1/4 acrylic for the box and 1/8 for the insert. I will post up more pics when I make the new case. As it sits, I have 126 lures in the case. Probably about 30-40 bass lures. I stretched out my longest lure (double dawg) and used that for the minimum depth. I wanted roughly 4x4 inserts for the lures and I have four rows so roughly 16-16.5 inches wide. I dont have a tape handy. I determined the length to be 24 inches as my local (crappy overpriced unknowledgeable) chain hardware store carried larger pieces of the acrylic in 24 inch lengths. Maybe I'll go drill some holes in the ice later.. Edited by greenstealth 2/19/2013 12:30 PM

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | Cool tackle box! Another thing to do, if one has the time and money, is take a winter vacation and do some saltwater fishing in the gulf or Caribbean. Barracuda aren't exactly Muskies, but they sure fight hard and getting a Tarpon or big Jack to hit is a rush. Even catching Trigger fish and Grouper beats the snow. I have actually learned as much in the past ten years fishing saltwater fish as fishing for Muskies. It gives a person a different perspective and that knowledge can be applied to help catch freshwater fish too. After all, they are all fish and all have a brain the size of a pea. Posts: 415 | That looks nice! I have been visiting various acrylic suppliers for work recently and the thought of building my own tackle box of this style keeps crossing my mind. If I was just a little more handy maybe I'd give it try.

Posts: 280 Location: McFarland | A buddy of mine introduced me to trout fishing through the ice this winter, what a blast! Caught this one on Saturday before heading to the Milwaukee Expo. Attachments ---------------- Big Brown.jpg (104KB - 230 downloads)
