| I like them for fishing shallower water and when everyone else in the boat is throwing a DCG. The only two muskies Ive caught on spinnerbaits were on a black and nickle cochran dbl 10 and a white/chartreuse bucher slopmaster tinsel but im sure I will be fishing spinnerbaits more this upcoming season. |

Location: West Metro, MN | Black and nickel funky chicken from Shumway is my all time favorite safety pin style spinnerbait. I tend to throw them mainly when the weeds are just too thick to get a bucktail with a treble hook through. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I use spinnerbaits in heavy cover, wood, and the slop. Anywhere a treble would not be smart to use, I go to the single hook and trailer of a spinnerbait.
I do very well on flowages in the 'stuff' in the US and NW Ontario on big spinnerbaits. |

Location: minnesota | hey does anyone have recommendations of "small" spinnerbaits that will hold up to muskie abuse? Like bass sized 1/2 - 3/4 oz ones? I actually catch a ton of muskies downsizing to these smaller spinnerbaits on particular lakes or conditions but I run into the problem of bigger fish breaking them. Hate to leave lures in a fishes face so I'd like to find one that is a bit more robust. |

When I want to go to a "small" spinnerbait I throw the Fudally "Candy Spins". They will hold up to big fish but often get ruined after a few fish (small baits/ lighter wire) ..don't try and bend the wire back too often... Weight is 1oz I've never ran into a situation to go any smaller than these for muskies. www.fudallytackle.com |

| i know a part of the equation when i read spinnerbaits is not a go to lure for some anglers.it's pretty simple rad dog and grinders!there is tons of better one out there if you want to pay just a lil bit more.okay commies?

I'm not sure if you can find smaller size (1/2 - 3/4oz) spinnerbait which is tough enough to handle musky or big northern. I wasn't able to. Therefore I started to make my own couple years ago and after lots of trials and testing I came out with sort of hybrid type: bigger then bass size and lighter then regular musky size: 1oz head, .051 wire form, 7/0 main hook and compact skirt size.
Single or tandem Colorado blades allow to fish shallow waters, Willow and smaller Colorado blades combo - if I need to go deeper.
Just not too big, not too small and handle big girls with no problem.
Great for early musky season or trophy northern pike. Below is a sample : bullet head with pure flash skirt, silver blades.

Location: MN | Here is the 3/4oz spinnerbait I've just finished. Size is a little bit bigger then Fudally Muskie Candy Spin . 7/0 main X Mustad hook 4/0 Owner trailer hook 100 strings Starflash silicone/Flashabou skirt .051 wire form #6 & #3 Colorado blades. Does anybody from south with open water want this little baby for test ?

Location: Denmark | I have used the Classy Babies from PSV, since he started making them. I and my friends have caught tons of pike on them. Pike is not musky, but I dare to say that many of the European pike specimens provide an excellent platform to test, at least the durability and the hooksets of the Classy Babies.
The Classy babies are getting well popular in Europe at the moment, and the only complains are, that they do not get any patina from all the action they receive, so to say, last forever. I have listed some strong points of the Classy Babies.
1. Casting performance, are way better than DC's, and all other spinnerbaits I have tried.
2. Durability of the materials, makes them a very cheap investment.
3. Choice of colors(obvoiusly as you can order your own)
4. Great hooksets, due to the trailer hook.
Just the humble opinion, from someone who loves hand made quality lures.

| I have had luck with the slopmaster which is 1.7 ozs - not too big, not too small. Have caught fish with it dragging through the slop, over the top, slow rolling over rocks in the fall and even open water. |
