Posts: 1039 Location: North St. Paul, MN | Hello, My dad and I are shopping around for a guide for summer 2013. We are looking for one or two days of midweek fishing. We have been with Gregg Thomas (loved it and caught fish) and Josh Stevensen (was okay, no fish). We are limited to the twin cities metro area, Hayward area, central MN (I know, I know...fish with Spencer, or Laz, or Dadson. Great ideas, not possible). We would like the St. Croix, Mille Lacs possibly, or a Hayward guide that could put us on some action and a possible bigger fish. Thoughts?

Posts: 1036 | Why not go out with Gregg again? And if that isn't possible, I've heard nothing but great things about Scott Kieper.

Posts: 397 | Try Arron Meyer. Had a great day with him and caught fish. I know him through a relative. He has caught a bunch of big fish, and will teach you some tricks as well.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | If you are looking at Mille Lacs as an option, Jason Hamernick and myself always guide there in late June. We stay together and are in constant contact throughout the day. We both have done very well there in late June in recent years. If you would rather fish a central MN lake, it's hard to beat Gregg as you know...or I will be in the Bemidji area July-mid Sept. Ty, Jason, Scott, Gregg, Aaron are all great choices as well. Cant go wrong with any of them. Edited by MikeHulbert 1/23/2013 12:50 PM

Posts: 203 Location: Alexandria, Minnesota | Hey Musky Roller..........If you are looking for Mille Lacs, I would go with Jason Hamernick... Know one has spent more time out there over the last few years, but if you want to come back up to Cental Minnesota, I have a really good bite up here in September, Would be able to put you on some big ones... Did a September bite show with Pete Maina up here last Sept it will be on the www.nextbite.tv in February think the 25th... But we caught some real monsters. Posts: 501 Location: S.Wisconsin | Another vote for mr.Sennett on the big chip. Scenery is wonderful and you will have a great time with a shot at some quality fish. I fish with him a couple days every year as a vacation from running the boat and its always a blast. Some nice places to have a burger or pizza for lunch on the lake as well.......if all you are looking for is a BIG fish I would stay in MN but thats just my opinion. Good luck as there are lots of good choices out there

Thanks guys...good ideas. I've contacted Scott Kieper and waiting to hear back. I enjoyed fishing with Gregg, but he hasn't been back to Mille Lacs in a few years and I don't want to go over to Alex...too far from the cabin.

For the metro area, If you want to fish Minnetonka or Waconia Greg Schroeder is great! Every time I've been out with him we've gotten fish even in the worst conditions.

I have been out with Scott Kieper on five different days. Every time we caught fish. He definately knows how to target active muskies. I have heard he is not guiding anymore though. I can't back that up with facts. If anyone has gone out with him last season let me know.
