Posts: 48 | Musk, It's been ten years but we stayed at Barkers Bay back in 2003. Had a tough week with hot, flat calm conditions all week. We had our best action in the stretch between Upper and Lower Manitou. Good weeds and current areas. Saw a couple of dandy's the last night of the trip when we finally got some breeze. Clear water, beautiful scenery, great laker fishing for a diversion. We got way back into Mosher Bay, near Upper, and found big walleyes and our biggest muskie there. Made for a good adventure. Manitou Dan used to frequent the site and has lots of experience up there. Good luck and have a great trip. Rocko

Posts: 30 | Rocko, Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing the Manitou is not too popular, as I have received no other responses. I appreciate your help.

Posts: 968 Location: N.FIB | I fished upper manitou yrs ago with only one small muskie caught, but we didn`t know what we were doing when it came to muskie fishing back then.we mainly threw smaller lures and caught alot of pike and smallies, the bigger lures didn`t get much action from pike, but the ones that did were bigger pike.If I were to go back I would be fishing the straits alot, mosher bay and some other spots off the main lake, but would only be throwing big stuff,I just don`t like that the boats at green Island lodge don`t have trolling motors on them.

Posts: 19 | went to Baker Bay for 2 years about 8years ago. Had limited success for muskie, no pressure from other boats. went in mid August. find weeds you'll find fish. The lake trout fishing is a great diversion like rocko stated. Look for arcs in 80+' and drop down sonic lures and have fun.

Posts: 30 | Did you have difficulty locating weeds? Any specific areas we should target? Thanks for the posts.

Posts: 968 Location: N.FIB | lots of weeds, deep weed beds since the water is clear, the straits are a good place to start,I can`t remember alot of names but also fish muskie bay.I caught a large mouth in muskie bay and the guide said there only used to be big mouth until the smallies took over,he also told us to watch for moose around muskie bay.I would talk to the camp about where to go and also get a lake map, green island used to have a map of the lake on there site but not sure if it covers the lower part of the lake where you will be staying.

Posts: 48 | I would also recommend a forum search. The Manitous have been discussed periodically over the years and you should be able to get some more information there.

Posts: 166 Location: Alexandria, MN | Nice system. While there are a few cabins/camps, there is not a ton of pressure. A decent population of Muskies. Fished there two years, biggest fish in our group was 47". 2nd year kinda sucked as a series of nasty storms shut things down the week we were there. Do what Get the Net said for trout - it's a blast !
