Aside from trial and error, how does one know the correct angle to install a Lexan lip onto a homemade crankbait? I am hoping there is some sort of chart that tells you, in general, that the bait will run X feet deep with a lip installed at X angle. With that being said, I am looking to make a shallow running bait, say 2’ – 3’ and another that will run 5’- 6’ deep. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

lots of lures out there for reference with dive curves recorded. You may have to sit down and do a little homework and charting just to get things started. Even if someone gave you a lip angle it would still be arbitrary without knowledge of the body size (length, width, thickness), weight, position of the lip on the lure body, lip thickness, line tie position and a few other minor details that affect running depth. trial and error is the best part of making your own lure.
