Anyone know if there is going to be any deals if you buy a reel you get a deal with some rods at a show? Looking to get this reel and probably the St. Croix Big Nasty but wanted to check to see. Also, anyone know if Shimano will still repair TEs that are having problems. I've always loved Shimano's customer service with their reels so I was hoping.

What kind of problems are you having with your TE reels ?????
You have 1 year from date of purchase, after that send them to me.

Seemed the drag was slipping on both. They are definitely over the 1 year so that is out of the question.

It looks like Conquest Reels are getting more rear to find.
e.g. eBay offers are imited to just a one or few in particular size.
Does that mean that Shimano is planning to roll out new Conquest based on Calcutta D chassis?
Any rumours?

My reels are all Shimano. I have Curado 300DSV's which are great for smaller baits and topwater. I also have a Calcutta 300TE wich is great for everything from cowgirls to 10"hellhounds. I got my Calcutta 400D in November with enough season left to fish it a couple times. The reel is everthing the TE is but in a easier to palm compact size. Sure am glad I didn't buy the 20 oz Tranx!

Yes... Shimano Ocea Calcutta, 300 size is coming out soon, or may already be out. Here is a pic from the "plat" site.

Per the photos... the drag is on the inside of the handle on the Ocea... and on the outside for the D.
