Headed for Sabaskong Bay (LOTW) agian this year, the first week of August. The only other time my son and I fished LOTW (RedWing Lodge) was 2011 during the 1st week of August. We did OK IMO for our first time on the lake.

Just wondering what time of the year others think is the best time for numbers and biggers musky in the Sabaskong Bay area?

July or August. Unless you like trolling (late October to ice up).

Usually July, but if it has been a warm spring June can be good. August, September and October are all good too.

No such thing in my opinion...completely debatable in terms of weather at the time and other factors.

I was up there last year in June, July, August, and first week of September and the first week of September was by far the best in my boat.

I personally found July to be pretty crowded out there in the Angle last year for LOTW standards, constantly butted heads with the MH school and other Muskies Inc outings that were up there the same week. I( not sure how it is in Sabaskong, maybe not a factor)

Brian is correct, I don't think there is necessarily a "best time" on LOTW. I've fished it in June, July, August and October and have encountered very hot bites during all of these timeframes. Drawbacks to certain timeframes would just be that June can be hit/miss depending upon prevailing weather, July will generally be the busiest time in terms of fishing pressure, and by August/Sept the algae bloom will probably at its worst--which can deter some folks. October fishing can be great, but you might encounter some very nasty winter-like conditions, that could possibly keep you off the water or limit you in terms of fishable areas. So, you can "pick your poison" from those standpoints.

Stable weather patterns leading up to a storm front trump time of year every time. Nothing ruins a full moon or new moon period like a nasty cold front. Hit the prime-times (sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset) as much as you can on proven spots and fish you have seen. When fish are active any given day, try less likely looking areas that may get driven by more often than not. Time of year isnt the most important thing to consider unless you are locked into certain dates by limited vacation options.

Good luck.
