Wondering what rod you guys use fo throwing double showgirls, spankys, single blades, etc. Im looking for one 8'6". Idealy the long ranger would be the one but out of my price range. What do you think? Thanks

Watch for a used rod. I just picked up a one year old Long Ranger for $150, looks like new.

I got a St.Croix Legend Tournament Long Ranger last season to use as my buck tail rod and I'll cast small cranks with it. Seems to be rated a little light at Medium Heavy (was using a 8' Heavy St.Croix Avid) but it works well in my opinion. Feels a lot like my Avid, a little longer and softer tip. I'm throwing double tens with it.

I have the long ranger also and you should be able to throw up to 8s on it. If you cant find a deal on one look for a mh premier or if you prefer split grip try the mojos. I also have the top n tail and it is honestly my favorite rod. I think its a little more versatile than the long ranger even though they are rated identical

I use a Powell swimbait rod. It is very light and has a good backbone. Perfect for small to medium size bucktails and small spring lures.

Hands down, the long ranger and top and tail are in my opinion the ultimate rods for small to medium sized bucktails. they are pricey, but worth every penny. Last spring I purchased my long ranger at the Wausau musky expo for 30% off the list price. The expo date this year is Mar. 1-3. It might be worth the drive to check it out. they also have a long list of venders and seminars. Just search the internet for wausau musky expo... Good luck

I see your from the Madison Just an FYI but Tackle Industries will be at the Madison show in Feb. Stop by our booth and check out the rods. We will have some specials on a few rod lines we are selling out of to make room for the new 2013 models.
