Question, I just got as a gift the mojo musky 7'6" mh rod. It is listed for lures 3/4-3oz. Can I still throw gliders that weigh 3.0-3.5oz with this rod. Things such as eddy baits and phantoms.

How important is the lure rating. I know it deals with the rod loading when casting. I just don't want to break the rod

Try it and see if you like it, if you do then stick with it and if you don't try to sell the old rod and get a new one

Seems to me St. Croix rods fish higher than they are rated.

Try it and see. With a little practice, you'll know whether your rod is suitable to the lure.

Most rods are. My XH e-glass rods are rated for up to 60# test line diameter...I put 400# on it to catch a 350# goliath grouper.
