Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | I have been making rods for a few years but started selling them a year ago. I have had a great mentor showing me the art who has been building custom rods for 30 years. This isn't something that I randomly decided to do. This is something that I am seriously pursuing and have quit guiding to focus my attention on it. I have hundreds of rods built and in stock with more in production as I sold out of my 9'6" models. I have also made many customs that I do not stock for customers wanting that special custom.

Location: SE Wisconsin | That 9'6" XH has been awesome to me this year.. The thing throws big rubber and heavy blades like a catapult, plus that extra length has made for a lot less back pains after a day of ripping Dawgs. I throw a lot of rubber and one nice thing about the extra length and sturdy backbone of the 9'6" is the ease of pull.. It takes a lot less effort to move the bait at the same speeds as intensely ripping with an 8' when you're looking for a reaction strike or pulsing a Medussa, not to mention saving your back on the eights. I also used the 9'6" vertical jigging Bondy's in comfort. The rod is light enough, yet maintains a stiff enough back bone to muscle up on the snap jig, but a fast tip that sent every little "tick" all the way down the 9'6" of rod to and through the cork handle.. I literally felt the Bondy bumping into the perch 25' down on the way up AND on the way down. Great rods and well worth the money!

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | Sam, Glad you like the rod so much...I use the 9'6" about 85% of the time myself. If anyone is interested I can make the same length in a MH, H or XXH.

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | The XH rod loads on pounders but can cast them. The length makes it easier to cast. Worrall had one out last winter throwing big baits in the cold and loved it. I can make one in an XXH that would be stiffer and would not load as much. It would take me a while to have the blank made in the XXH. You might want to ask Sam and Steve how it worked for them or give me a call and we can talk.

Location: SE Wisconsin | I toss pounders with it nearly every time out. It does load up, but even with a stiffer stick I still lob these big baits out as opposed to casting like i do with a bucktail or a small minnow bait, so as long as you treat it that way, there's no problem getting a pounder to go the distance. As far as the retrieve, I rip on pounders, I slow sweep pounders and occasionally soft pull - the length makes it all come together comfortably. As far as Mags, well, this thing launches them like a mid-evil catapult! And big blades? No problem.. Like I said, I'm very pleased with how the rods handle, especially the 9'6".

I like to buy US manufactured products and not products that are just assembled here. Do you build the blanks for these rods or are they built elsewhere? Nice feather and snakeskin finishes on some of them.

Vince The discount says $20 off. The website shows this rod to be $265 regular price, so is there another $20 discount I am missing? My real question is with your sale price, how much for a 9' XH High Modulus rod? Looks like the regular proce is $369. Got a new Shimano Calcutta 400TE LJV that needs a home.

I don't make any telescoping rods as I don't personally think they hold up as well. I put a lifetime warranty on my rods and build them to that standard. Thanks again, Vince
