| I am staying on leech lake this year for the opener on the east side. Only fished leech once and it was later in the year. Any areas that would be a good starting point? Was thinking of going out with Al Mass or Jim Murphy for a day. Has anyone been with either or have a guide for leech they would recommend? Thanks |

Location: Iowa | Either would be good. leech is usually pretty tough early, i wouldn't too have high of expectations that early.

| I fish a lot in the cass area for the opener, as well as some of the longville area lakes. Probably use it as a base camp, but will have to give a go for a day. |

| If you go with Murp or Al even if you do not get on fish you will learn a ton about the Lake and fishing...Can;t go wrong either way... |

Location: Minnesota | With the winter we are having so far and last year's early ice out - I wouldn't count out Leech to get going earlier than normal again this year. It all depends on the spring that we have and how early the ice goes out. |

Location: midwest | Chad Cain is a great guide for the area you are talking about. If Leech isn't going at that time, the lakes in Longville or Mantrap are both good close by options. |

Location: Ames, Iowa | Early in the year, I'd try a lot smaller water than Leech. That coming from a guy that has a place on Leech. |
