Location: Syracuse, Indiana | Helen and Rick are great people, and will go out of their way to make your lodging comfortable. Helen's Friday night BBQ ribs are the best anywhere. If you are like me, you'll over eat. Good accomodations, but a long drive down Detour Point. Take what you'll need for the visit. If the water is up, and the beavers have been active, I suggest 4WD. That said, the road is MUCH better than when I first went there 20 years ago.
Good location on the lake, and near some good muskie spots. Not as much sharing of information as at some other camps, as PBL is primarily geared for Walleye fishemen and families. Sometimes I think everyone on the lake finishes their day fishing Walleyes around the corner from PBL. Lake Trout, Whitefish and Smallmouth are available nearby also.
Electric hookups on the piers, with gas and bait available. Nice, sandy beach. If there is a strong NE wind, you may have to pull your boat (but they have their own ramp - very easy to use). Overall, if you are reasonably self sufficient fishing-wise, it is a good, economical way to get on prime water. |
