| Hi folks,
I posted here as I figured people would be more familiar with my boat than other sites I am more familiar with, and better able to give some first-hand experience.
I just picked up a new 598 ci hd si. I'm not in any hurry to get it on the boat, as it'll be months before the lakes unfreeze, but I was thumbing through the paperwork last night and the mounting instructions seem to suggest that mounting it on the transom of a boat with no jackplate is likely to cause problems with the motor interfering with the side imaging. My boat is a 03 Lund Mr Pike 17 with a 125 merc, no jackplate.
Has anyone put a humminbird SI transducer on the stern of this or a similar boat, and if so did you have any issues? Any mounting tips to get the most out of both the side imaging and on-plane depth readout?
thanks a ton for any insight anyone has.

Location: St.John, Indiana | Put a 998c SI on my Crestliner 1650 with a 75 Yamaha . No problems with interference .
You should have no problem. I set it as low as possible to the side of the motor I think they recommended 15" out from the motor but I was able to do around 11" . As far as on plane read out, Even setting it as low as possible I loose contact . |
