| I have an all white, plastic, Drifter Believer that I picked up of a few bucks out of the "bargain bin" nothing wrong with the lure, it just isn't a color that I like.
I want to paint it all black - no scales, no fins, etc. Just simply all black.
My question is this. What do I do to "condition" the lure. Do I have to lightly sand it, prime it, etc.?
I don't have a paint sprayer so I have to buy the paint at the local hardware store.
Thank you in advance for your advice.

Location: Money, PA | If you're using spray can paint, first scuff sand the lure and fill any divots or scuffs...If the lure already contains paint, this will act as your primer and you're fine....especially since you're using straight black...I would probably use a flat black paint if you're going to use a top coat like clear lacquer or epoxy coating. If you plan on not top coating, use a high gloss black paint then in multiple coats letting it semi dry in between coats. If I were you though, I'd get yourself some 2 ton epoxy at the hardware store and apply a nice thick coating over the black.....Good Luck!
