| Does anyone use smaller bass sized reels for muskie fishing? I was thinking something like a curado 200 for pitching bucktails. Are they ok to use for bucktails? What about for other stuff? Anyone use a particular small reel they like? |

| Zach,
I picked up a Curado this season for the same reason, I palm the reel with my left hand and I dont have big hands. I wanted something that I could burn bucktails with, I put it on my 7' Avid and now it's one of my favorite set ups. Spool it up with 50# Spectron and you shouldn't have any problems. |

| Zach,
Curado all the way! This is a proven reel that will handle abuse! I use 50 lb Power Pro and it is one of my favorite set ups! I also like my Garcia 5500 C4 and Ultra cast. But if it low profile you are looking for - do not buy anything else other than the Curado!

| Hey Anon,
What's up with the Lew's?
How much?
Where do you get them?
Thanks, |

| For myself the Curado was not a great choice for musky fishing,as they made less then a month of everyday fishing without having to be repaired! They spent more time in the shop then on my rods, even the manufactuer questioned my use of the equipment!5500`s now! Just what happened to me! Handy |

| Handyman - You must have rec'd a defective Curado. That should not have happened! I have been using Curado's for Piek and Muskie fishing for 3 years.
I have had my Curado's for 5 years and not one problem! I send them in for service yearly and they keep on ticking!

| Tahoe, must have got 2 bad ones? Maybe its that I am extremely hard on my equipment or that there lefty`s! I just dont know, but while working they are awesome to fish with all day! Handy |

| They key is not use lures 2 ounces or heavier. While I have tossed lures at this weight, it will take a toll on any bass reel after continous use!
I am usually using my curado for lures that are 1oz....I love it!
And yes - it is easy to fish with all day if your downsizing! |

| Cool, these are the responces I was hoping for. I plan on getting a curado 200 super free. A guy at gander mountain showed me one...you push the button down and spin the spool and it doesn't stop sinning very quickly. I plan on putting it on an 8'6" all star to have a good buctail combo that can whip baits out a long ways and without much weight to cast all day. |

| I use the Bass Pro low profile models for spinnerbaits, my Slammer 5" baits, light bucktails, and small Suicks. I have two Mitchell SPidercast low profiles I use for Husky Jerks and the like, all spooled with 50# superlines. Keep the drag at a normal setting, not too tight, and make certain to never use HUGE baits, and the reels hold up fine.
Lews also gets a vote from me. I had two of the original BB1's, finest reel I ever owned. |

| Ralph, bass pro has the lew's reels in their store.
We have a curado and like it.
Another reel that is taking off from what i hear is the new phleuger that bass pro sells. It's smooth. I believe that they make a bass pro version too.
Others that may make the list are the mitchell spidercast and there is a diawa and quantum too but forgat what modals they are. |
