| that rod is rated for 3/8 - 1oz baits so you will be throwing very small stuff? if that's the case your hooks will be small.. will you be using 50lb braid? ... I'd match that rod with any quality bass bait-caster and don't lock down the drag, I have a curado 200 and like it ..but I just never throw stuff that small intentionally for muskies. I'd get a little heavier rod if muskies will be the main target and put a Revo Toro 50HS on it for small baits. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I have the St Croix TBC74HF with a Revo Premier mounted for launching cranks at the Bass up here. Nice outfit! I spanked the Bass with it this Summer, and found it to be my go to outfit out of several. |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Currado 200. I have several and highly recommend them. If you can find one of the older E5's go for it. It's a little slower but great for deep cranks. If you're going to be throwing small, light cranks go with the Currado 50. |

| Go with a fiber glass rod such as a quantom kvd cranking rod or mojo bass cranking rod. With small hooks keeping fish pinned can can be a nightmare especially if you want to use braid. |

| Abu garcia 4600. Used mine almost everyday for 6 years never had a problem. Can throw a 16th oz. Jighead no problem as well as gliders 3 to 4 oz. A good price too. |

Location: 15 miles east of Lake Kinkaid | If you want to be technical, you need to elaborate on "bass sized crankbait". In my view a bass size crankbait can be a 1/4oz shallow diver or a 1 oz deep diver. I would fish these on 2 completely different rods. Sworrall's suggestion was spot on for an awesome combo. As a general guide get a 7'-7'6" Medium weight moderate action rod and pair it with a 5:4 gear ratio Curado 200 or Revo (S, SX, or STX). |

| im pretty sure you could just put any casting rod and reel together and throw any bass lure you want on without any trouble. Im sure the guy that is throwing a 1/2 rattle trap with random rod and reel is going to catch just about as many fish as the guy throwing the same bait that carefully thought out the dimensions of every aspect of the rod, reel, and line. |

Location: Northern Illinois | What types of line and leaders do you guys use on these setups? I like heavy duty braided line and stranded wire leaders on my musky reels, but I think I need something a little more "stealthy" for those days where I downsize and fish for "whatever I get." |

Location: Davenport, IA | Any bass reel over $120 will hold up. That price is make or break for me. I use Abu Garcia, Pflueger, Daiwa and Shimano reels. My AVC70MHM has a Revo STX (1st gen) with 5.4:1 gears in it. 12 lb mono is my line of choice for this setup. For shallow cranks I prefer 14-20 lb line and a 6:1 reel. |
