Posts: 555 Location: Tennessee | I tried to search and couldn't get it to work so here's another gloves thread. Need something to keep warm and dry when I'm chasing muskie in 15 degree weather that will still allow me to cast well.

I'm really not a big fan of the glacier gloves. They are not the warmest and the slits in the fingers lets the wind and water get in. I taped up the fingers with some fabric tape and they work pretty good that way. I got the youngstown waterproof winterplus this fall and have to say they're the best gloves I've tried. The cabelas shooting gloves are pretty good too.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I haven't tried it but read something that I might try sometime. I guess buying a set of those thin Mickey Mouse "girls" gloves like your wife, girlfriend, or daughter might wear and putting surgical gloves over them works well. The thin gloves are supposed to give enough warmth (if you can cast without everything freezing up it isn't THAT cold), and the surgical gloves keep the wind and water out. Never tried it but it sounded cheap and possibly promising. The only issue I see is this combo wouldn't breathe very well. Tucker

I've been making it a priority to find the perfect cold weather glove for casting in extreme weather. I've tried nearly every glove and here's what I found to work best for casting, waterproof and warm. The Serius Extreme Gloves have been the best glove so far...what works even better is when it's really cold I buy surgical latex gloves. There very tough and won't rip easily at all. I'll put a pair on first, the powder absorbs any sweat, add a hand warmer if really cold and then put my Serius Gloves on over. I can cast perfectly fine, change baits nearly anything else. If I have to take my gloves off for any reason I still have protection with a surgical glove and stay dry and warm. The whole key is to never get your hands wet...once wet it's over. Try adding surgical gloves under your main glove and you'll be amazed at how warm and dry your hands are at the end of day...

Posts: 8772 | I carry two pairs of glacier gloves with the neoprene liners, and a spare set of liners. By the end of the day in the rain, everything is pretty well soaked. I didn't think they worked until I tried taking them off and going gloveless. That lasted two casts before I had them back on. At the end of the day, stuff the glacier gloves with newspaper, and hang the liners somewhere to dry. They're pretty dry by morning. What does me in is the water that runs up your sleeves and back down into your gloves when you are casting. Not sure ANY glove will help that.

What Ryan just posted is the gloves you wanna get from Sierus. I've submerged my hands in net grabbing fish and zero issues getting wet. They fit really tight and are comfortable for casting. You'll be happy with them. Don't forget the surgical glove underlayer...

Posts: 555 Location: Tennessee | Well I was going to try the Seirus but I found alot of mixed and poor reviews before making the final purchase. I opted for the Glacier Gloves instead. Should be here in time for next weeks muskie pursuits to try.
