I can save a few bucks buying one. They have one year warranties. It has been my experience that something will have issues within the first season of using it. Your thoughts please.

Thanks

I wouldn't have any issues at all doing it, but I wouldn't do ebay. Find a shop that is an authorized service center for Minn Kota's and then call and talk to them about it. There is a shop not too far from where I live and I talked to the guy two seasons ago before I was ready to buy one. He suggested that if I wanted to save money and go the reman route, I needed to call him around this time of the season because if you wait until spring he runs out of them. I didn't have the funds to buy a terrova until late spring and he didn't have any left just like he said.

I bought a remanufactured Maxium 7 years ago and haven't had an issue and it was several hundred less than new. I went to a local tackle shop (Minn Kota service center) and they ordered it for me. If and when I need another, I would buy a remanufactured one. As you said, it comes with a 1 yr warrenty and if it's a true defect, it will show up quickly (unless you don't fish much).

I too have a remanufactured Minkota. I got mine from Cabela's. It's a 80 lb Maxum and it's has been by far the best trolling motor I've ever had. Buy and large I'm pretty cheap and buy reconditioned stuff when I can find it. So far, my experience is much better than expected and just as good as new or better, as what's going to break has.

I've bought them and would do it again for the right price. Look around online though, you may be able to find one for the same or similar price. You get a 2 year warranty with new and 1 with the re-man.
