I have a top n tail which is a very nice rod for topwaters, but you might want to check out the Lone Ranger also.

The Sling Blade would be my first choice it handles all of those baits well and big fish really well. Handles most everything 6" twitch bait up to mag dawgs.

The Big Nasty is probably their best all around blank but it won't load up as well on the cast with those lures. Still very doable.

The top n tail and long ranger are both nice rods. Both just a little on the light side for me.

I have both the top n tail and the longranger. For the baits you mentioned I honestley like my top n tail better. I use the long ranger a lot for my smaller bucktails and some of my lighter prop style top waters but like the top n tail for the creepers and larger topwaters. I also use the top n tail on some lighter rubber and will also handle smaller bucktails. Try one out if you can they each have their own feel and are both awesome rods I love mine they're the two rods I use the most. Russ

Do they have enough backbone for a distance hook setting?

That why I mentioned the Sling Blade with her H-power.

I've had excellent luck with mine. Caught fish only a couple cranks in and in the figure eight with no problems in either department just keep the hooks sharp. The long ranger with the extra 6" will pick up the line even more but for the baits mentioned I'd still go with the topntail. My top n tail is responsible for my pb a 48 1/2 that hit only a few cranks in on a bomb cast it was awesome.

I have a Top-n- Tail for my topwaters other than the Weagle, like it alot. Does a great job on the hook set.
