Posts: 555 Location: Tennessee | I plan on purchasing a Tuffy Esox next spring and I'm trying to sort of plan a little trip around it. I live in East TN so i've got one heck of a drive to Fort Fremont to get the boat. I am thinking of making it a 3 or 4 day trip instead of straight there and back and try to fish abit in WI on the way. Any good suggestions/ideas where to start looking. I figure why not break in a new boat built for muskie fishing for muskie, in the muskie state? Also never even saw a pike in person so I'm interested strongly in that and maybe walleye. Trip will likely be in mid may. It's just the 15ft Esox too so probly not best for any big rough water.

Muskie and Walleye have closed seasons in Wisconsin in Early spring. You may try Kinkaid, IL , Webster, IN , Shelbyville ,IL Green River , KY Buckhorn , KY and Cave Run, KY.

Not very common...Not sure if I can recall catching one ever as a matter of fact. You are much more likely to catch one on the Madison chain. Pewaukee can crank out some fish but planning a 3-4 day trip to focus on it might leave you disappointed, it's still a very crowded and heavily developed lake. Even on it's better days I couldn't imagine sitting out there four days in a row.... Edited by Musky Brian 10/30/2012 12:29 PM

Posts: 203 Location: Germantown, WI | As mentioned previously Pewaukee is a good choice for May musky action. If you want a chance at a pike in addition to musky I can recommend Okauchee lake which is about 15 minutes from Pewaukee. Okauchee has lots of pike in addition to some huge muskies. Pewaukee is a better numbers lake for muskies, but Okauchee gets the nod for size potential. Don't expect to catch many pike at Pewaukee. They are in there, but are few and far between.

If I come up with any I will definately ask ya. I think it was Dan that I talked to. Very nice and friendly, plus the quote from them pretty much smashed the competition's pricing.
