Has anyone out there fished Big Canon Lake in Ontario? It looks like it is trout water with some muskies in it.

Did my homework on this place many years ago...it is not great musky waters as most musky fishing is done on portage lakes with small fish...if you are looking for a musky trip this is not the place

Did you talk to the camp owners? From the research i've done, it looks like there are some decent size fish in Big Canon, but not many numbers. As you said, it seems most do all their musky fishing on the portage lakes. Maybe it's somewhat similar to Wabaskang, where the numbers are so low that its like looking for Nessie, but if you get one it will be big.

Talked to some people who stayed there...they did great on Multi Species but didn't do anything on Muskies...If you are looking to do a fly in trip for a trophy on trout water the Manitou's or Rowan are a better bet, or even Pipestone....

I have fished Pipestone and loved it, and we are actually boating in to the Manitou this year. I am somewhat of and OCD resercher, and was just poking around to see about some under the radar musky lakes. Planning this stuff is half the fun

I fished Big Canon many times and it is a good trout and bass lake, however pike and muskie numbers are low. It does have a few giants but they seldom make themselves seen unless you get lucky. The portage lakes are tough to get into but if you want lots of action (shoepac strain) they can be worth it, the fish top out at around 36". Great place for action just not size.
