It was 4 degrees in Rhinelander this morning.

ice on many of the lakes now up in N WI and walkable ice in N MN. It's over for the year just a couple days early, but some rivers and waters not too far South are open, and it will be in the 40's this weekend...weird weather.

Saturday when we pulled the boat out of the lake 2 snowmobilers pulled up and asked how we did.

This morning on the way to work I noticed snowmobile tracks going across Sunday Lake.......

Our Indiana lakes were skimming over in the shallows and back bays this past weekend. However, we're right back up into the high 50s and even the 60s here in Indianapolis this coming weekend. Unreal....sux to live this far south...back to t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops this weekend while doing the Clark W. Grizwald Exterior Illumination on the house...crazy...

I would absolutely love it if things froze up down here, lakes froze shut, ice in the makings and snow falling to the ground. Anxious to go ice fishing and even more anxious to go snowmobiling!

Pewaukee Lake's east end froze over nite. (14 degs.)  Warmer weather is expected and the east end will again be open, for a while anyway.

From Modis today it looks like most of the LOTWs is froze. The guys at the Angle are starting to run snowmobiles around (we have 3"-4" of snow). It was -8 yesterday morning in Warroad.

Getting the old ice auger ready to drill!

We have a different problem at the Buffalo Harbor, the water is colder then the main part of Lake Erie.Holding most of the muskies out deep in Lake Erie and the season ends on Friday. The Canadian part of Lake Erie and Upper Niagara River is open till December 15th and weekend air temps ar over 50 degrees, still time for slime slobs!

I like it when the lakes freeze. Gives me time to fix all my reels, go through my lures, fix rods, sharpen hooks, and get ready for next season. Pretty sure the muskies like it too. It's the only time of the year when everything that moves actually IS food.
