My buddy, Jason, and I just got back from a week long trip to pursue a fall giant. We had planned the trip a year in advance. While excited to finally arrive, we were not excited when the a.m. temps dipped to 10 degrees and 4 inches of snow greeted us in the boat. We spent time shoveling the boat out on our first morning. The forecast called for more of the same, which makes it a bit harder for die hard casters like us. Three days of chipping ice and breaking reels, we realized that we were getting kicked to the curb; not a fish in the boat. A few heart breaking lost opportunities kept us going from dawn till dusk and then after dark. A couple of mid-40's finally hit the net, but still the ROI was just not what we had come to expect. The fishing was down right tough for us. On our last night, in our last hour, we decided to hit a spot we thought might produce. A nice chunky 43"er proved us right. We released her and kept casting. A couple of minutes later, Jason had another strike. When she came to the top, we could see this was no ordinary fish. Mayhem ensued and when it was all finally said and done, my buddy had released his PB! Here is a photo of said fish. We felt that perseverance and stick-to-it-ness was a key to this catch. Mother Nature was slapping us around pretty good, but we never gave up. Congrats to my friend Jason on a fantastic CPR. It was quite a memory! Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Jason - Great fish! Since you were shoveling snow, I know you weren't fishing local water. I won't be intrusive and ask where, because that would be bad manners, and you probably would say somewhere north of highway 10. Just thought I'd get that out of the way for you! That's a pig! Have fun! Al Edited by ESOX Maniac 11/4/2012 9:25 PM

Posts: 1937 Location: Black Creek, WI | Thanks Brian. This is most certainly a TEAM sport and fishing with guys like you help raise the bar. There is no way I'd have been able to fish as long and hard under such challenging conditions without a teammate such as yourself. There are bigger fish getting caught by others.... so hopefully we can raise the bar a little higher for ourselves in the future. Good luck to those still battling ice and snow till season's end. Hope you can get your new PB as well. Attachments ---------------- New PB.JPG (37KB - 155 downloads)

Posts: 58 | Holy smokes, I can see why you didn't include measurements, it looks too big for the bumpboard! Congratulations to you and your boat partner for boating what some might mistake for a whale!
