| VERY SUCCESFULL,,,,, spent 5 days on the shores of V and never wet a line once,,grouse chasin,,,Id rather pinch the trigger then the tail,,,the success part was spending saturday deer openner on public land spending the day walking trails with a reddish brown labrador and we didnt get shot!!!!,,,pike bay was froze on sunday,,,but the pizza was great at the Vermilion club |

| Cisco's are in full swing up on top,, was up there for a week caught 5 fish casting left early today to fish metro was slow dint raise a fish in 2 days, water temps 38 in the am 41 in the pm,, post a report when ya get back so i can be depressed for the winter lol good luck |

| the pressure is not the reason the fishing is tough. it is musky fishing. you can not expect to go to the same spots over and over again and catch fish. if there are 10 boats fishing one island that obviously leaves a ton of un-pressured, available water. |

| Honestly Vermilion gets hit HARD with fisherman. Ive seen it become more and more each year, but with that said, it doesn't seem to affect the fishing for us. With how diverse the V is, there is always ways to catch fish. Weeds, Rocks, Points, Saddles, Flats, Islands, Shorelines, Open Water....its endless. There are so many over looked spots up there, plenty of room for people. Just need to step outside your comfort zone and fish somewhere other than the community spots. |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | The pressure on V today was awesome...... Saw 2 boats on the west end all afternoon,..... With that said,...I boated 2 fish,..... one Cisco was about 3lbs. and the other was bigger (longer) than my pounder.... But where are the muskies?
I kept the boat in 15-28 ft. of water when Casting,... and even trolled for about an hr. ?????
I had to break about 1/2" of Ice to get out of S.B. but the water temps are 39-37* where I fished today..... Maybe I'll play Hooky from Work again Tomorrow !

| ICE UP? What do you guys think with the weather next week? Maybe Monday or Tuesday after turkeyday the season will be all over? Some bays were frozen in the morning but seem to open up later in the day.Anybody been out? Thanks |

| Done with a week on the v....imo the general fishing has declined since 2006....tough fishing overall.... spent time literally deer hunting one location to have a chance at a bite.....actually had a boat of experienced anglers try to push me off the small spot i was working because they thought i was on a jackpot of fish....lol... idiots....will be spending all my time on the big pond next year....to catch the fish they cant....good luck to almost all.... |

| thanks for the report Rick looks like it like we didnt miss much then leaving early,, and there was people acting out of line while we where there as well,, my buddy was accused of watching a guy on potato with binoculars we had a great laugh at that as if the guy was on a "secret" spot? I think he was putting on a show for his clients to cover for bad fishing lol but he was saying some pretty ridiculous statements ! |

Location: Watertown, MN | Rick, you are correct it aint what it used to be, and several theories going around and will see what happpens up there for the long haul. Always a pretty lake, lots of pressure? declining of fishery? water has seem to be off color last few falls too. Just weird fall temp patterns impacting? Think it has people looking at several other viable options, know of several good sticks that struggled up there.

Of course the "CATCHING" has been off the last fall or 2,... but mostly this fall.......... I'm talking the West end,......
Number 1,.... The Pressure has been more this last month than I have Ever seen ,... Some really good spots get pounded ,,,,, but still plenty of water to fish.
Number 2,.... the Water temps have been up and down more this fall than ever before,...( I've been "snagging" Cisco's and Whitefish for a month,..2 yesterday in 20ft. of water, with 36* water temp.)
Number 3,....... I don't see any problem with water clarity on the West end,... except in Wakemup Narrows,...A bit cloudy but I have boated more in that area this fall than any other area.
Ever fish a dirty River ? and catch fish ? They still eat no matter the color of the water.
Cloudy water = Advantage,... The Fisherman.
Number 4,... Lots, and I mean Lots, of bait fish in this lake,......The Muskies that are boated (at least the West End) are really eating Pretty good...... It's hard to get a stuffed Muskie to eat when you do everything right to trick it into eating your Rubber,Tinsel,Wood, and Steel,................ What highly developed animal wouldn't want to eat that Crap ??.... lol,haa,haha........Stupid Fish !!
Heck, I've been fishing this lake for 17 yrs. and still can't figure these Muskies out.

Brad, ya there are some smaller fish being caught,...which is a good sign.. Mostly in the spring I'll boat a few under 40"......2 weeks ago someone at S.B. boated a 15" muskie.
The ? is..... how many of these smaller fish are there in V.... Not to many in the DNR sampling nets in the spring but then again the smaller fish don't spawn with the big girls, do they.

With the tanks that I've seen and caught, I guess anything under 40" is a meal in that lake. Any thoughts on possibly having a gap in the class of fish swimming in there? Such as, do we need to wait for the "super fish" to die off. Or are the smaller fish already so educated and hiding for their lives? |

No idea but we do get them when fishen. Under 36" an above 20" looks like this in my book from 2010, 11 & 12
2010 we got 10
2011 we got 17
2012 show 14

Most in less than 8 FOW an over Slugbugs to Jordens an some hiding deep in weeds Grind'n 3 oz DP's or Nailed Slugos on a jig.
Not big stats or DNR data but shows something. Lil ones are alive an well.
There are times over the years we see stockers an what must be naturals hiding in cover by our places in shallows. So cool to see these lil beauties bout maybe 9" to 12". I have even seen more than once my Moe Rock staring at them feeding on minnows an mini craws up tight on cool sunny morinings west docks before our morning swim. Of course by the time I get the cam out of Big Black they have moved on or are hiding. But very fun to see.
No expert on anything but hard work, having fun an The "G" Spot Tickel and first hand that 4 sure CANCER SUCKS....but I know the lake an doubt anything wrong with our sweet Vermilion.
Hang in there, have fun..good things will continue to happen...now an forever as long as CPR is top dog an the old dam go completely to CRAP!..
Man has to know his Limitations!

| Good amounts of younger year class fish. We have caught multiple fish in the 20 and 30 inch range. Maybe you guys are not seeing them because you are to talented at catching the big ones  Catching the small ones are the real challenge. |

Location: somewhere! | Just got back from v we caught three sub 40 seen a couple others too. I also saw hundreds of yearlings at the boat launch in the 8-12" range
