I've been using mono leaders on my gliders lately and sometimes they impede the cadence of the lure. It seems as though throwing a little heavier glider(3oz or better) lure with the florocarbon leader works the lure to near perfection(with a tuned lure of course). I'm somewhat baffled now in regards to what i should do when throwing the lighter gliders with the floro. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I had this problem too, along with the lures kicking out too much and fouling on the leader. Best results for me have been switching to 174# wire. Problem solved. Added bonus: It's easier for me to work WTD baits with wire too. Still using flouro for everything else.

go to wire. gliders work much better with wire. no swivel with split ring.

Check out the "hardwareless" jerk bait leader by Pearson Plugs. I got a few from Kyle @ bigwood. Very cool design and make gliders perform extremely well!

Thanks for the tip. Those look easy to build too.

those leaders work best on gliders that have horizontal screw eyes but no so much on gliders that have vertical screw eyes. with vertical screw eyes you'll want to use a ring.

I use a bait rigs jerkbait leader. No hardware on it, which was mentioned above also. I use it for jerkbaits, WTDs, and gliders. Good Luck

does it impede the action of the glider or make it not work at all- come in straight like a suick or like a glider with a weed on the back??? because sometimes this kind of thing actually makes the bait more erratic thus more of a trigger,,,perfect gliders that glide perfect seem to have more follows then hits some of my six inch phantoms I use non wire leaders on because without a pivot point of wire they have more of a all over action

Well, the smaller lures(rapala glider in particular) seems to be running a little to the left and than just straight. Your correct though on the fish hitting a lure with an "out of the box" cadence. I was actually pretty disappointed with the lure, so i thought i'm going to switch-up the action. I gave the glider a jerkbait pull with a deep pause and a couple seconds to let it sink, started the retrieve and sure enough i caught a fish. No musky but a little dink pike.
