| It seems that the opinions on Etecs are about 50-50 love 'em or hate 'em. But the Yamaha 4 stroke EFI I have never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever heard a criticism. Ever.... | |||

Location: MN | I own a 60hp Etec and my recommendation to you is buy the Yamaha. As stated, Etec owners seem like a split group, some people have had good luck and others have not. I will never consider purchasing another boat with an Etec on it. Edited by Mak51 10/24/2012 11:01 PM

Posts: 403 Location: WI | I've had my E-Tec 90 for 5 seasons now & would do it again in a heartbeat. Haven't had any trouble at all & have only used 2 gallons of oil in those 5 yrs. The only service was the 3yr check up. It's bolted onto a Navigator 165CS that gets on the water about 20 days a year. I don't abuse, or "baby" the engine, just normal fishing use.

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | All personal preference, no doubt. Having run both(I own the F90 and dad has the E-tec), I would run either one, though the Yammy wins out in most categories for me personally. I do like that the e-tec is lighter weight on a smaller rig. However, the smoothness and silence, and features like Variable Speed Trolling on my tiller are what have me sold. Both great motors, I just prefer the 4 stroke in that size range for reasons mentioned above. As mentioned you won't go wrong with either.

Posts: 332 Location: Michigan | Thank you all for the feedback. I'm sure the E-Tec is a fine outboard but i'll be sticking with Yamaha.
