Need suggestions for a family trip to Big V end of June or early July. Is Fortune Bay Casino marina & resort a good spot on the lake for Muskie/Walleye this time of year? Is the resort a nice spot? Any comments much appreciated!

Posts: 2015 | I stayed at the casino 11 years ago, was fine but not the best choice for a family trip or as a fishing lodge- there are better choices IMO. VDL is a great location, ran by good people and being central is nice. Are children going? Pehrson Lodge on the west side is very nice, the best total family experience - its also more $$$. Pehrson lodge was a wonderful place for my family to stay. Beautiful and comfortable cabins that had everything we needed. Has all the amenities of a big resort in a perfect package. Close to great fishing. I can't wait to go back soon.

Posts: 2024 | Fortune Bay is nice and is in a shallow weed filled bay that is a decent spot for multiple species for that time of year. There are several locally owned resort options on the east end of Vermilion as well. If kids are involved, try Daisy Bay Resort. If it's adults only Bay View Lodge is a good time. Great food and bar and the rates are very reasonable, but the cabins are nothing fancy. On the west end there are many options as well. I didn't end up staying at Spring Bay last year as planned, but the owner, Steve, was very accommodating and I have only heard good things about it. Here's a link to some more resort info. http://www.lakevermilionresorts.com/
