Posts: 122 | On Saturday, November 3rd 2012, Smokey’s Muskie Shop will host the 1st Annual "Autumn Muskie Tilt™" on Pewaukee Lake. Teams will be allowed to score two muskies for the competition that must be at least thirty four (34") inches or better in length. First place will pay $10,000.00 with a field of sixty five teams paying down five places with the entry fee at $300 for a team of two anglers. The competition will start at Smokey’s Muskie Shop at 7:30am and will conclude at 4:30pm with the awards to follow shortly after. Although the Smokey’s Muskie Shop 1th Annual "Autumn Muskie Tilt™" is an independent tournament, it has been granted the status of a WMT Series™ sanctioned event allowing the competitors to fish beyond the limits of one tournament. The winners of this year’s November 3rd Pewaukee Lake "Autumn Muskie Tilt™" will receive an automatic invite to the 2013 WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP™ to be hosted on Lake Namakagon next year, September 28th and 29th with a scheduled pay- out of $140,000.00 with full fields of scheduled events. Not only will a victory mean a great deal to the team who wins the Autumn Muskie Tilt™, but all points earned by competing teams during the tournament will count towards the 2013 WMT Series™ Rankings™ where the winning team in the final point standings could win $20,000.00 with full fields of events. This is the first year for the Smokey’s Muskie Shop "Autumn Muskie Tilt™" on Pewaukee Lake but not the first time a muskie tournament has been hosted on the first weekend of November. If the previous muskie tournaments held on the same date on Pewaukee is any indication of how the event will play-out, then a high percentage of the competing teams will score on muskies with a few real trophy fish will be scored as well. The majority of the muskies will be taken during the tournament on jerk baits, soft plastic swim baits, and double bladed spinners, although twitching and pausing crank baits that are weighted, so that they are neutrally buoyant, should be effective as well. The 1st Annual Pewaukee Lake Smokey’s Muskie Shop "Autumn Muskie Tilt™" still has some open spots remaining. If you are interested in competing in the tournament you can sign up for it by getting on the WMT Series™ web site, www.WMTseries.com and download an application form, or by calling 715-277-4411 for an entry form to be sent to you. Also, you can sign up for the event the Friday night before the tournament, November 2nd, at The Machine Shed N14 W24145 Tower Road, Waunakee, just off HWY 94, at 5:30pm until 7:30pm. The WMT Series™ events and sanctioned tournaments are open to the public. If you are interested in expanding your muskie knowledge and enjoying the competition with others who share your interest, log on to www.WMTSeries.com web site or www.professionalmuskieanglercircuit.com for info and an entry form or you can call 715-277-4411. Posts: 267 | Any idea if any local hotels are offering discounted rates for Friday night before?

Posts: 1220 | Don't know that there are any cheap places to stay nearby, but I will urge you to consider having your supper at the place where the meeting is. The Machine Shed has a terriffic family style served Friday fish fry and every thing else there is good too.....really one of the popular Milwaukee eateries. Most local anglers will tell you that watching where I fish will yield very little, but watching where I eat will become a wealth of knowledge!

Posts: 122 | For the folks who are travelling to Pewaukee to compete in the Autumn Muskie Tilt™ on November 3 rd you can get a discounted rate from the Holiday Inn Pewaukee/Milwaukee West for $109 a night. Also, at the Wildwood Lodge you can receive a discounted rate of $89 a night for a room with two Queen sized beds if you make reservations by October 31st, otherwise it will be our WMT Series™ anglers usual discounted rate of $99 per night. Both locations are perfect for the weekend tournament as the Wildwood Lodge shares a parking lot with the Machine Shed, where the Friday night registration and meeting will take place plus it is the location where the Saturday awards will be held. The Holiday Inn is also conveniently located as it is just across the street from the Machine Shed and is connected to the great Thunder Bay restaurant. Posts: 1220 | It was tough casting all day in what is clearly a "sucker bite" going on for Pewuakee Lake. One fish for the entire field sort of proved that. Still, as always, I had a great time being out on the water with a bunch of nice folk. I'm stuck in New Jersey (of all places) for father-in-law's 90th birthday this Saturday, but would urge the rest of you to take advantage of a nice tournament and what should be a monumental catch with up to three suckers per boat allowed. It's just a really, really fun sucker bite going on right now and the Ironman events are totally fun and friendly outings. I'll say hi to Gov. Christie if I see him---just love seeing people that are fatter than me!
