| This is my first year fishing these creatures and I am really starting o struggle. Most of the spots I fish now have dead brown weeds and cannot find a fish on them to save my life. I noticed a few scattered rock piles that top out at about 15ft with 30+ft of water all around them on my map chip, is this worth checking at all? |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Fish points and steep dropoff's ,..... some deeper weeds that are still green,.... Always Wind blown shorelines,......... Since your new,..... Learn with your eyes,..... watch other muskie guys and when they leave a spot go over there and learn why they were fishing it......Don't fish it, untill you've explored it.
Find current and saddles,... Learn all aspects of your water, Grasshopper! |

| Splurge buy bigger gear throw pounders and rig 18" suckers. Get out of the weeds. Focus on the 11-15" depths close to shorelines, steep breaks with inside turns, saddles, bottle neck areas, and deep weed edges where you can find some greener patches. Slow the boat down and fish slower especially on those steep breaks with inside turns close to the shoreline. Shoreline fishermen in the metro do well right from the piers. That being said they also kill a lot of fish do to there theory of smoke a cigar before setting hooks on live rigs. |

| We did see a few follows out in 25+ on cranks on a bottle neck, makes sense |

| Hey nolan keep "plugging away" these smaller feeding windows were given in the fall make musky fishing a little bit more challenging. Be patient and don't be reluctunt to troll smaller lures.....you will soon hit "pay dirt." |

| The best thing to do is go around this time of year on a sunny calm day and drive around on structures where you can see the bottom and figure out why fish relate to that and then find more spots like that through out the lake. Muskie fishing is one giant puzzle the more pieces you have the better.. There are some videos that are helpful in locations. Usually deeper edges this time of year is the best bet. Other days fish will be up shallow... As others have said be patient. It will pay off. |
