I am looking to put a Calcutta on a 9"3' Okuma rod I have and use it primarily for double 10's and 13's. I like the faster gears on the 300D, but is it too small? And would the 400D be a bit slow? Suggestions????

400te has a lot less plastic...tried and true, about the same price, best reel ever.

Since you are asking about either 300 or 400D, I would recommend the 400, from the simple standpoint of gear ratio. The 300 is 5.6:1 and will have a bit more resistance >> harder retrieve than the 400.

400D. Great reel.

I actually have been using one for a month and have had it strapped to several different rods to try it out for all presentations.
