Posts: 68 | I am looking to get a revo toro 60 i noticed there are very few out there with a 5/1 gearing but quite a few with the high speed 6/1 gearing. Is there a major difference between the two. I want to use it for Bucktails from Mepps Musky tandem Killers to double cowgirls and spinnerbaits. will somtimes stick it in the prop wash. do not want to buy 2 reels. thnx JB

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | Throwing D10s you are best off with the 5.4/1 rather than the 6.4/1 reel. It really depends on the amount of time you throw D10s. I'd buy (and have two) 5.4/1 reels.

Posts: 152 Location: Nowhere near where I should be | I beat the crap out of my equipment (lots of use) 3 years on my 5:4/1 and it is just now asking to be serviced. i think its an absolute shame these were discontinued. a purchase of this reel is a good choice (if you can find one) editor's Note: Reintroduced as the Toro NACL reel this year.

Posts: 791 Location: North Central IL USA | I was just doing this the other day. With the 6.4:1 I can wake a double cowgirl cranking at a reasonable speed. With the 5.4:1 reeling at the same speed the lure stays about 6 inches below the surface but is much easier to crank. So it's a pretty noticeable difference.

Posts: 865 | I agree with figure8out these reels are great, I don't know what they were thinking when they discontinued this model. I have 4 of them and love them. The only problem I have with these reels are when you try to really fill the spool with line. The braid actually rubs up against the reel bar while you are retrieving the line. It does actually fray the braided line ever so slightly if you overfill the spool. This is not even noticeable unless you look for it...... The reels are great. IMO they should have discontinued the Winch and not the 5:4/1 model...... Mike Sr.

Posts: 1100 | I got a Toro 51 HS model, and i love it for jerk baits, and small stuf lige dc8s and so. But if you are going to throw dc 10 all day long i would go for an other reel.
