| With all the glide baits you guys picked up this year, which ones stood out to be the best in durablity and performance?
*******************
My list!
1)Undertaker (Mostly because I pitch it more)Finish held up good, everyone worked and colors were nice with the holoform improvements. Best soft tap change up bait I know of, really hangs on the pause.
2)Squirko (Rocked the house in the fall, never tore a tail at all)
3)Slammer Daily Dose glide bait(Was awesome this past spring, good side roll and nice finish. Available in 2003 (Sport shows only)

| Jerko is still #1 with me.
Anything that Divanni will build for you. I think that these will take my #1 spot next year. If you haven't traded for any yet you are too late. We are all at least one year ahead of you now. |

|
| I am with Muskyone. Still my favorite for a glide bait. |
|

|
| what the heck
currently my results on gliders favor the dancin shad by a wide margin.
eddie baits, another one that I have caught a lot of fish on, but it is so uncontrollable when used correctly I am afaid I would have it in the wood all the time and I wreck enough covers without having a bait running wild. if I was fishing back in WI I would probably still be using it a lot. You ever notice how nobody TALKS about using the eddie bait anymore??? why is that LOL?
three I have picked up and used sparingly this year due to conditions I have fished in,
include
blitzin shad really like it
dead head really like it
undertaker sorry I bought it, does the same thing that an English bait and the tek neek do but doesn't get bit, it will probably go on the trade block(heck it already is)
baits I have tried and simply don't like
jerko, just doesn't suit me and has never moved a fish for me
manta, finally tried one this fall but didn't feel it was worth buying one, strikes me as a "special conditions" bait
most of the reef hawgs I have purchased LOL, but the one that works is mmm mmm good
bait that I really liked but never bought, Cobbs crazy shad, loved the bait but viewed it as a hookup problem, if somebody catches one on this in my boat I will probably be overcome and run out and buy two.
all in all I would much rather put on pull baits than glide baits, but I wished I had someone casting in back to get a test of both.

| My favorite gliders this year have been the wyde glide, dead head and the widowmaker 10" cigar glider plus the magic maker. |
|
| |
|
| Undertakers
Phantoms
Cobbs Shad body

|
| I hate to say this but my glide bait, the X-Glide. But thats the only one I have been throwing trying to make it perfect. So it is not a comparision, next year I will throw other ones (which will have to be purchased this winter [] ). Yes Jason it is a little different than the one you have. |

|
| STC Glider for obvious reasons.
But I also like the phantom and viper a whole bunch.
Enchanters (HR's)....even though i hate the price tag...it has a tits belly roll.
I also give the nod to the Reefer Hawg. Orange and Grey. |
|
| |
|
| HR Shakers....awesome!
Always liked Undertakers and Cobbs...both roundnose and Crazy Shads.
Tried Phantoms with some success this year.

|
| I liked the glider my buddy Kjelle makes (the stalker glider), the 6" + 8" reef hawg, a divani 5" VG and a 5.5" divani zig zag glider |
|
| |
|
| Mine would be as follows:
1.)Slammers glider,out performed everything by 2:1.
Slammer...Slammer.....slammer..Go number one!
2.)Cobbs blunt nose gliders
3.)Undertakers in my custom basement paint jobs!
4.)Also the Tuffshad glider,pretty cool bait!:) |

|
| #1 Undertaker....I love this bait!
#2 Muskie Treat....All I had to do is set the hook and this would have been my #1 bait of all time!!!!! ssshhhhhhhhh.......
#3 Viper.....two baits in one, what a deal!
Then I have the honorable mention list
#1 Phantom....The best bait I've never caught a thing on.
#2 Squirko....I've had a few nice fish nail this bait but for some reason with mine you have to jerk the piss out of it to get it to do anything? I can only work it for a short time before I opt for the Undertaker or a Treat.
and last but not least....
#3 Waterwolf Eazy Ez glider....another great looking bait that has never seen a fish.
[:halo:] PK[]

|
| well, the Phantom has out performed any other glider for me this year, but also i have lost more fish on this bait this season alone, then all the other fish i have lost the previous 3 or 4 years, no crap.
8" Shaker, i hate to fork out the cash, but i several of them and they move and catch some good fish. when i like to down size (like the the size of an undertaker) STC Glider has been boating them.
1. Phantom
2. 8" shaker
3. STC Glider
keep it reel,

|
| In no particular order:
Jerko
Muskie Treat
8" Phantom
These 3 baits have accounted for 75% of my fish this year. I've got some reefhawgs with great action that haven't done squat. Squirkos have just been getting small fish for me this year. Undertakers have moved fish for me 1 day and nothing since.
I do have to say the Jerko has been hot the last couple months. If anyone wants to get rid of theirs let me know. |
|
| |
|
| The top producer for the year for me was the Jerko, really love its belly roll. The Phantom is another go to bait for me, I love the way you can vary your retrieve with this guy. At the end of the year I picked up a Slidin' Shad by Musky Magic and was very impressed with its action. No fish on it yet but I am sure that will change drastically this time next year. |

|
| do any of you use amma bammas?
oh yeah and I have another question, I've been hearing a lot about slammrs, but I can't find them in rollie and helens catalog(and the have everything). Are they just called slammers, or do they have another name?
thanks,
Ryan

|
| Everyone knows my slant....but here goes
1.HR Shaker...8" and 6" have a ton of belly flash and are versatile
2.Phantom....8" for the ton of flash it gives off
3.HR Hughey....easy side to side and will go down about 4-5ft
4.Pearsons Plug side to side
Slamr |
|
| |
|
| 6 inch phantom
In the fall a 8inch drop belly hughes river although this year not too good
8 inch phantom
pressured fish seem to like vipers with a 3/4 oz weight screwed in
up and comming
muskie treat
jerko
please make a weighted squirko they ride too high |

|
| I would have to say that the Undertaker has moved into the number one spot for me. Cast it all day long and the finish still holds up, too bad you can't say that with many other lures. |
|
| |
|
| My favorite would have to be the 8" phantom for fish i've gotten on it
I have also seen a lot on the 6" phantom and undertaker, although the undertaker is much harder to work
for topwater gliders I love the doc and have had many follows and blowups
cobbs crazy shad (7") is really good but i wish i could work it deeper
viper is good but I haven't seen any fish on it yet |
|
| |
|
| My favorites are:
1. 6" HR Shaker in a custom bluegill pattern
2. Holoform Perch Undertaker
3. Waterwolf Pan Handler.
4. Magic Maker
But......all of these will probably be overtaken by the Divani baits I'll be getting in the next few weeks. |
|
| |
|
| By far the 2 Glide Baits that I had standout were the Undertaker and 6" Reef Hawg. Both in Black and both were very good. First time throwing the Undertaker and I just love it even though the #1 Glider is that Black Hawg. It just seems to get fish no matter how the fishing is going. |
|
| |
|
| My two best glide baits this year was the Undertaker and the Magic Maker. You would'nt think that little Undertaker would catch big fish in the fall, but it really surprised me. I did best with it by really wack'in it, I would try it slowly gliding it side to side. But most fish came from using it very erratically with pauses? And the Magic Maker, don't look like much, actually it looks fake, but man we had a lot of fish up on it. Must be its profile.[:)] |
|
| |
|
| 1) HR Shaker, both 6" and 8"
2) Magic Maker
3) Phantom
Just got a custom bait from Dirk (Divini) and expect it to be in top 3 next year. |
|
| |
|
| The two gliders that have moved and caught the most fish would have to be undertakers and phantoms. I've seen some monsters on the undertaker this past summer, but unfortunately they didn't want to commit. Alot of gill flaring and false charges, but no grabs. I was getting frustrated with the large number of follows and no takers that I started to throw them less this past year. With the continued success that I had with crankbaits and chop baits this past year I stuck with them majority of the year.
Another glider that I really liked that I had tried this past year was the Cobb's Crazy Shad. This bait runs like my best phantom. It has a dying baitfish action that's unmatched.
I also was able to test out a pretty cool jerkbait that ERC has been developing that's the RNG. Although I can't classify it as your typical glider. It will kick to the side when worked with quick slack snaps of the rod. It also rises and dives like a chop bait with a slight wobble on the rise. It's the only bait that I witnessed a double follow from brother and myself.
catch ya later,
Krappie |

| firstsixfeet,
I'm interested in your comment on Manta as only a "special purpose" lure. Any particulars to define "special purpose" you care to share? Only big fish are triggered by it, certain weather conditions work best, certain depths are better, some cover situations are better than others, etc?
Thanks for your reply.

|
| I like the undertaker the best but have caught more fish on the manta. The manta is definitely a great bait if your hanging meat over the side to entice all the followers. |
|
| |
|
| The undertaker got raised reviews 12 out of 26 posts.
Interesting!...I see some folks have learned the secret undertaker "change up" the gets fish to trigger.[;)] [] |
